F&M's MacArthur Named Player of the Week

William MacArthur, Sr, Franklin & Marshall

William MacArthur has guided F&M to five straight match victories, including three victories last week. Against Ursinus, MacArthur won at No. 1 singles 6-1, 6-7 (11-13), 1-0 (10-6). At No. 1 doubles, he teamed up with Nolan Bacchieri for an 8-6 win. At McDaniel, MacArthur was victorious again at No. 1 singles, defeating his opponent 6-1, 6-2 and he and Bacchieri combined at No. 1 doubles to win 8-5. Finally, the Diplomats were in non-conference action on Sunday as MacArthur and F&M defeated TCNJ 5-4. MacArthur won at No. 1 singles 6-0, 6-2, and he and Bacchieri were also victorious at No. 1 doubles 8-6.

Anthony Collard, Sr, Swarthmore

Senior Anthony Collard led Swarthmore to a convincing 9-0 win over Kalamazoo in the team's only match this past week. He won his match at No. 1 singles by identical set scores of 6-1 and teamed up with freshman Thomas Vernier to post an 8-3 victory at No. 1 doubles. Kalamazoo entered the contest ranked 11th in the Central Region by the ITA.

Zachary Novick, Fr, Washington College

Went 2-0 at #6 singles and #3 doubles this past week.  In a 9-0 win at McDaniel, he downed Matthew Langsdale (6-3, 6-2) in singles and teamed up with brother Joel Novick to best Philip Jorgensen/Daniel Xinis (8-2) in doubles.  Versus York (Pa.) in a 9-0 win, he topped Rory Handlin (6-2, 6-1) in singles and teamed up with Joel Novick to best Nathaniel Hoskins/Kaltrin Bullaj (8-2).  He won 16 of 20 points in doubles and 24 of 32 points in singles.

Scott Johnson, Sr, Gettysburg

Johnson went a combined 6-1 in Gettysburg's first week of competition this spring. In singles play, the senior was a perfect 4-0 with all four decisions coming in straight-sets. He also went 2-1 at No. 1 doubles.

Marc Cywinski, Sr, Washington College

Won at #1 doubles and #2 singles on Saturday at St. Mary's (Md.) in a 7-2 victory.  At #2 singles, he downed Mark Hardesty (6-4, 6-1) and at #1 doubles, he teamed up with Vishnu Rajes to win 8-2 over Andrew Gear and Hardesty.
