F&M's Bacchieri Named Player of the Week

Nolan Bacchieri, Senior, Franklin & Marshall

Kennett Square, Pa. / Tower Hill School

Nolan Bacchieri went 2-0 from the No. 2 singles spot and 2-0 with Vasant Rajamanickam at the No. 2 doubles position for a 4-0 mark last week. Bacchieri downed Johns Hopkins' Noah Joachim 6-2, 4-6, 1-0 (7-5) and he and Rajamanickam were victorious in doubles at 8-6. Against Swarthmore, Bacchieri won 6-1, 6-7 (7-3), 10-7 in singles action and 8-1 in doubles play.

John Larkin, Soph, Swarthmore

John Larkin was undefeated in singles and doubles as the Garnet swept both Muhlenberg and Gettysburg last week. Against the Mules, the sophomore won 7-5, 6-4 at first singles and teamed with Blake Oetting for an 8-1 rout at third doubles. Larkin, who is the 15th-ranked singles player in the Atlantic South, also won 6-2, 6-0 at No. 1 singles and 8-1 at No. 3 doubles against Gettysburg on Saturday.

Doug Kaplan, Jr, Franklin & Marshall

Doug Kaplan led Franklin & Marshall to a 6-3 victory over Washington College on Sunday afternoon. From the No. 1 singles position, he cruised past Vishnu Rajes 6-4, 6-1 before teaming up with Jack Rothman at No. 1 doubles to take down Rajes and Dan Boate 8-1.

Doug Kaplan, Junior, Franklin & Marshall

Kaplan went 4-0 from the No. 1 singles spot for F&M last week. The junior won his match against Grinnell 4-6, 6-1, 1-0 (7-4) before cruising past Colby-Sawyer 6-3, 6-3. Against SCAD-Atlanta, he won 6-3, 6-7 (5-7), 1-0 (8-6) and won his conference opener against Muhlenberg 6-0, 6-2. Kaplan also had a successful week from the No. 1 doubles position, as he and Jack Rothman teamed up to down Colby-Sawyer 8-2, SCAD-Atlanta 8-2, and Muhlenberg 8-2.

Vishnu Rajes, Senior, Washington College

Rajes went 2-0 at both No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles as the Shoremen won both of their matches in Tampa last week. In singles, Rajes won, 6-1, 6-0, in an 8-1 victory against Daemen and, 6-2, 6-0, in a 9-0 sweep of Northwestern (Minn.). In doubles, he teamed with senior Dan Boaté for an 8-2 win against Daemen and an 8-4 win against Northwestern (Minn.). Rajes is now 3-0 at No. 1 singles this season, matching his win total at that spot from all of last spring.

Joey Frank, Jr, Dickinson

Frank opened the spring season with two points in an 8-1 win against Randolph-Macon. He won the top singles flight in straight sets (6-2, 6-3) and claimed second doubles, 8-4

John Larkin, Soph, Swarthmore

Larkin went undefeated in both singles and doubles in two Garnet wins last week. Against Division I Delaware, he claimed a 9-8 (2) win at third doubles to earn Swarthmore the doubles point and a 6-2, 6-1 victory at first singles. On Saturday, Larkin led the Garnet to a 5-4 victory over #30 NYU with wins at third doubles and first singles. He prevailed 8-4 in doubles and battled back from a 2-5 deficit in the second set to earn a 3-6, 7-5, 6-4 win and clinch the Garnet victory.
