Diplomats Netters Advance

Doug Kaplan, Franklin & Marshall

LANCASTER, Pa. – Franklin & Marshall hosted Dickinson for the second time in four days on Wednesday, this time with a spot in the Centennial Conference semifinals on the line. The fourth-seeded Diplomats came out on top with a resounding 5-0 victory, improving to 15-4 on the year and setting up a semifinal match with Swarthmore on Saturday. The loss ended Dickinson's season at 6-9.

By the Numbers

After weather forced the match to be played inside at Lancaster's Racquet Club West, F&M wasted no time getting ahead of the visitors as Doug Kaplan and Jack Rothman dropped just one game in an 8-1 rout at No. 1 doubles. Will Samuels and Vasant Rajamanickam earned an 8-5 decision at No. 3 doubles, while Zack Levin and Isaac Salas tallied an 8-6 win at No. 2.

The onslaught continued in singles play, with only two matches going to completion before the match was decided. Kaplan was again the first to finish, grabbing a 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 1. Rothman followed by putting the finishing touches on a 6-2, 6-1 victory at No. 3, recording F&M's fifth point of the day and wrapping up the 5-0 Diplomat win.
