Garnet & Blue Jays Sweep Into Title Rematch

Top-seeded Swarthmore and second-seeded Johns Hopkins cruised to 5-0 sweeps in Thursday's Centennial Conference semifinals to advance to the championship match. The Garnet downed fourth-seeded Haverford 5-0 while the Blue Jays topped third-seeded Washington College 5-0. 

This sets up a championship rematch between Swarthmore and JHU for the eighth year in a row. Match time is set for 1 p.m. in Baltimore. 


In Swarthmore, Michael Melnikov was victorious in top doubles and singles action as he picked up a pair of wins for the Garnet. Swarthmore also received a No. 4 singles victory from Lalith Suresh to clinch an early victory after sweeping doubles action. 

In Baltimore, the Blue Jays swept the doubles before Thomas Yu (No. 1) and James Yu (No. 5) posted identical 6-0, 6-1 victories to wrap up the 5-0 shutout win.
