Two CC Men's Tennis Teams Qualify for NCAAs for First Time Since 2007

For the first time since 2007, multiple Centennial Conference men's tennis teams are headed to the NCAA Tournament. Swarthmore earned the CC's automatic bid to the national postseason with a 5-2 victory over Johns Hopkins on Saturday, while the Blue Jays received an at-large bid into the field of 44 teams. 

After claiming its first-ever CC title, the Garnet return to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2007. Swarthmore received a first-round bye and will play in the second round against MIT on Saturday in Medford, Mass. on the campus of Tufts. 

Swarthmore (14-3) looks to keep their 11 match win streak going as they head into the tournament. The Garnet will open the tournament versus MIT, who holds a 15-11 record on the season. The Engineers won their 23rd conference title after defeating No. 19 Babson 5-3 in the NEWMAC Championship. Baruch, Farmingdale State and Tufts make up the remainder of the competitors at the regional site. 
 
Hopkins was selected as a host at nearby Goucher College. The Blue Jays are making their 17th straight NCAA Tournament appearance and will host a regional for the sixth time. Hopkins (18-4) earned a first-round bye and will face the winner of RPI (13-6) and Lebanon Valley (17-3) in the second round on Saturday. 
Middlebury (15-3) also earned a first-round bye and will face the winner of the other opening-round match between Christopher Newport (10-8) and Allegheny (17-4). Saturday's winners will meet in the NCAA Sweet 16 on Sunday.
 
The Blue Jays have qualified for the NCAAs every year since 2006 and have compiled an all-time record of 21-16 in the tournament. This is the 13th time that JHU has earned a first-round bye. The Blue Jays are 12-3 all-time in the second round.
