Gettysburg's Twitchell Named Player of the Week

Twitchell hit .455 (5-for-11) with six runs, three home runs, and seven RBI in a 3-1 week for Gettysburg. The sophomore tied the conference record and shattered the school mark with three home runs in the nightcap against Susquehanna. She drove in a career-high five runs and set a new program standard with 12 total bases. She scored a run in all four games, including two as the Bullets wrapped up a sweep of Haverford to close the regular season. For the week, Twitchell logged a slugging percentage of 1.273.

 

Notebook:

McDaniel sophomore Tayler Hishon led the Green Terror to a 3-1 week and into the postseaosn, hitting .556 on the week. She went 5-for-9 with six walks for a .733 on-base percentage. She had two home runs among her five hits for a 1.222 slugging percentage. She also drove in a team-best seven runs and scored six times.

Edelson had another great week, hitting .667, going 8-for-12 on the week, drawing three walks. She hit three homeruns, giving her a school-record eight on the season, scored six times, and recorded seven RBIs. She had a 1.417 slugging percentage and a .773 on-base percentage for the week.

Edelson led the Red Devils to a 5-1 week, hitting .500 (10-20) with six RBIs and three runs scored. She went 4-for-8 in a sweep of Swarthmore with four RBIs and a homer.

Hishon led the Green Terror to a 4-0 week in conference. Hitting .571, she went 8-for-14 at the plate with six doubles to slug 1.000 for the week. She also drove in a team-best 11 runs and scored three times. She drew one walk for a .600 on-base percentage.

Abell hit .438 with six runs and five RBI in a 3-1 week for Gettysburg. She slugged .875 on the strength of four extra-base hits and she swiped a pair of bases. In the opening game against Swarthmore, she finished a home run shy of the cycle by going 3-for-4 with a double, triple, one RBI, and a stolen base. Abell blasted her first home run of the season to lead off the nightcap with the Garnet. She posted a hit in all four games, extending her hitting streak to a career-best 14 games.

Zengel hit .636 (7-for-11) with four runs, three doubles, one home run, three RBI, and four walks in a 3-1 week for the Bullets. She slugged 1.182 and posted an on-base percentage of .733 after recording a hit and a walk in all four contests. She went 3-for-3 with a walk, home run, and double in the conference opener against Muhlenberg, with her two-bagger setting a new program career standard.

Tatum hit a school-record three home runs in the same game against Eastern, helping the Fords to a 2-0 week. Tatum finished that game with each of her three hits being home runs and four RBI. The Fords' senior catcher finished the doubleheader 4-for-6 at the plate with four extra-base hits, four runs, five RBI, and one walk.

Folfas led the Bullets with a .625 batting average (15-for-24) during the team's spring trip to the Fastpitch Dreams Classic in Myrtle Beach. She posted at least two hits in seven of eight games, including a 3-for-4 performance against Penn State Altoona. Folfas drove in seven runs, including three against SUNY Canton, and she scored seven runs. She also did not commit an error in 56 chances at first base.

Vike had four hits, three runs, and two stolen bases on Sunday as the Garnet improved to 3-1 with two wins in Fort Myers. Against Rockford, the freshman shortstop finished 2-for-3 and scored twice in the 10-3 triumph. In the second game against Elms, Vike singled twice more and came home once as Swarthmore cruised to a 9-2 victory.

Briganti hit .750 (9-for-12) with 12 total bases, three stolen bases, an .800 on-base percentage, and a 1.000 slugging percentage for the Shorewomen in four games in North Carolina this past weekend. Briganti was a pefect 4-for-4 with a double, walk, RBI, run scored, and a stolen base against North Carolina Wesleyan on Saturday. On Sunday against Hood, she went 3-for-3 with two runs scored, a walk, and a steal in a 6-3 victory. She had an RBI double versus #18 Emory on Saturday and on Sunday at William Peace she had a pair of assists. Briganti had a hit in all four games this weekend.
