Around the Conference

Bryn Mawr

Freshman Nicolette Parmese (Levittown, NY / Division) averaged 20.3 points in an 0-3 week, finishing with 333 points on the season - the most by an Owl first-year player since Amy Johnson ‘07 tallied 362 in 2004.  She led all Centennial rookies with 14.5 scoring average.

Dickinson

Senior Carole Dempsey (Potomac, MD / Winston Churchill) registered a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds vs. Gettysburg. Classmate Alesha Sisco (Effort, PA / Blair Academy, NJ) closes her career as the school’s third all-time leading rebounder (723).

Franklin & Marshall

The Diplomats locked up their third playoff berth in four seasons with a win vs. Dickinson. F&M is the #4 seed and will entertain Ursinus in the first-round game on Wednesday. Sophomore Alexa Barbush (Etters, PA / Trinity) became just the sixth Centennial player to register 100 steals in a season (102).

Gettysburg

The Bullets tied the third-best win total in school history (19) with a triumph vs. McDaniel. Gettysburg will play Muhlenberg in the CC semifinals on Saturday at Johns Hopkins. The Orange and Blue looks to make their first title-game appearance since 2008.

Haverford

Senior Liz Mayell (Holmdel, NJ / Holmdel) played in her 95th career game on Senior Day vs. Swarthmore, tying her for the school’s record. The Fords’ win vs. Bryn Mawr gave Haverford 10 wins for the first time since 1991 (13-11). Sophomore Nina Voith (Philadelphia, PA / Germantown Friends) has 830 points in her first two seasons – the sixth-best total by a Centennial player.

Johns Hopkins

The Blue Jays won their 20th game of the season for the first time since 2006 with a win at Franklin & Marshall. Hopkins will host the Conference final four for the first time since 2004 and play the winner of the F&M-Ursinus first-round game in the semifinals on Saturday. Junior Stephanie Fong (Castro Valley, CA / Bishop O’Dowd) is on pace to break the Conference single-season three-point FG percentage mark (47.6). She has made 34-of-63 treys for 54.0 percent.

McDaniel

The Terror’s streak of eight straight Centennial tournament appearances came to an end. Senior Cara Thompson (Hagerstown, MD / North Hagerstown) led the team in scoring (12.1), while classmate Whitney Snoops (Millersville, MD / Archbishop Spalding) tops the carom list (8.3). Thompson averaged 16.7 points over her final seven games.

Muhlenberg

The Mules are the hottest team in the Conference entering the playoffs after extending their win streak to six games. The Class of 2011 has a career record of 87-22. Senior Alexandra Berlin (Bethlehem, PA / Freedom) posted her first career double-double on Senior Day with 11 points and 12 rebounds. The victory was the 200th in coach Ron Rohn’s Muhlenberg career.

Swarthmore

Senior Kathryn Stockbower (Fort Washington, PA / Upper Dublin) closed her career as the Conference’s fifth-leading scorer (1,677) and second-leading rebounder (1,335). She finished with an NCAA Division III record of 83 double-doubles. The 15 wins by the Garnet is the most in a season since 2005. Senior Ceylan Bodur (Istanbul, Turkey / Robert College) scored her 1,000th career point on an uncontested layup to start the game with Bryn Mawr. She suffered a career-ending knee injury on Jan. 29.

Ursinus

The Bears are back in the Conference playoffs for the first time since winning it all in 2007. Ursinus is the #5 seed and will travel to F&M for a first-round game on Wednesday. The Bears are just 1-4 in CC tourney road games, but that win came at McDaniel in the ’07 semifinals. Junior Lindsay Teuber (Philadelphia, PA / St. Basil’s) averaged 17.5 points and 11.5 rebounds, including a 20-point, 14-rebound effort vs. Washington.

Washington College

The Shorewomen snapped a 15-game losing streak to McDaniel with a victory last Monday. The 10-10 CC record marks Washington’s first .500 or better Conference season since 1999. Freshman Latisha Pledger (Chesapeake, VA / Indian River) posted her team-leading seventh double-double of the season with 15 points and 12 caroms vs. Bryn Mawr. She leads all CC rookies with an 8.0 rebound per game average.
