PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Sheila Cook, Muhlenberg (Sr, F, Rockville Centre, NY / Kellenberg Memorial)

Cook had her two biggest games of the season in the Conference tournament, shooting 54.5 percent from the floor and averaging 21.5 points to lead the Mules to the championship. She poured in 22 points vs. Gettysburg and a game-high 21 markers in the title-game win at Johns Hopkins.

Around the Conference

           

Bryn Mawr

Freshman Nicolette Parmese (Levittown, NY / Division) finished with 333 points on the season - the most by an Owl first-year player since Amy Johnson '07 tallied 362 in 2004.  She led all Centennial rookies with 14.5 scoring average.

 

Dickinson

Senior Alesha Sisco (Effort, PA / Blair Academy, NJ) closed her career ranked seventh on the program's all-time scoring list with 1,275 points and is second in career free throw percentage (78.5).

 

Franklin & Marshall

The Diplomats' tournament run came to a close at Johns Hopkins in the Centennial semifinals. Sophomore Elizabeth Snyder (Cranford, NJ / Cranford) led F&M with 16 points. Junior Megan Pauley (Audubon, PA / Agnes Irwin School) registered her second double-double of the season with 13 points and 13 rebounds to go along with four assists vs. Ursinus.

 

Gettysburg

Senior Caitlin Moser (Wyomissing, PA / Wyomissing) closed her career in the school's top 10 in scoring (1,556, 2nd) and rebounding (758, 9th). Her 48.6 shooting percentage from the field is sixth on the program's career list.

 

Haverford

The Fords registered their second-highest win total in team history (10) and the most Centennial victories (7) in the history of the Conference. Sophomore Nina Voith (Philadelphia, PA / Germantown Friends) has 830 points in her first two seasons – the sixth-best total by a Centennial player.

 

Johns Hopkins

The Blue Jays dropped the Centennial championship game to Muhlenberg, 72-61. Junior Chantel Mattiola (Trappe, PA / Perkiomen Valley) led Hopkins with 17 points. Senior Lyndsay Burton (Long Valley, NJ / West Morris Central) - the 2011 CC Player of the Year - had a career-high 29 points and 10 rebounds in the semifinal win vs. Franklin & Marshall. Hopkins will travel to Newport News, Va., to take on Richard Stockton in the first round of the NCAA tournament.

 

McDaniel

The Terror's streak of eight straight Centennial tournament appearances came to an end in 2011. Senior Cara Thompson (Hagerstown, MD / North Hagerstown) led the team in scoring (12.1), while classmate Whitney Snoops (Millersville, MD / Archbishop Spalding) tops the carom list (8.3).

 

Muhlenberg

The Mules won their fourth Centennial title in six seasons, defeating top-seeded Johns Hopkins, 72-61, in the championship game. Senior Sheila Cook (Rockville Centre, NY / Kellenberg Memorial) averaged 21.5 points in the two weekend wins, while senior Kelly McKeon (Watertown, CT / Holy Cross) posted a pair of double-doubles, including 15 points and 10 boards vs. Hopkins. She moved into third place on the Centennial career assist list (448). Junior Alexandra Chili (Rockville, MD / Walter Johnson) now has scored more points (1,442) through three seasons than any other player in CC history. Muhlenberg, winners of eight in a row, travels to Rochester to take on Williams in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.

 

Swarthmore

Senior Kathryn Stockbower (Fort Washington, PA / Upper Dublin) was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-America first team. A double major in biology and German studies, she closed her career as the Conference's fifth-leading scorer (1,677) and second-leading rebounder (1,335). Stockbower is one of just three Centennial players with 1,500 career points and 1,000 career rebounds.

 

Ursinus

The Bears' season came to an abrupt halt with a 61-49 loss at Franklin & Marshall in the CC tournament first round. Ursinus is now 1-5 in tourney road games. Junior Lindsay Teuber (Philadelphia, PA / St. Basil's) led UC with 14 points, while senior Alex Shivers (Pine Beach, NJ / Toms River South) grabbed a team-high seven rebounds.

 

Washington College

The Shorewomen finished with a 12-13 overall record, matching their highest win total of the past dozen years. The 10-10 Conference record marks Washington's first .500 or better Conference season since 1999. Freshman Latisha Pledger (Chesapeake, VA / Indian River) leads all CC rookies with an 8.0 rebound per game average.
