Vassila continued to score at a torrid pace last week, averaging 19.5 points and 9.5 rebounds for the Blue Jays. The senior rarely missed, shooting 67% from the field. Vassila notched her 200th career block against Ursinus, and is the only player in Hopkins history to record 900 points, 800 rebounds and 200 blocks.

Swarthmore, Gettysburg, Muhlenberg and Johns Hopkins have secured spots in the Centennial Conference women’s basketball playoffs that are set to begin next week. The number one spot is yet to be determined, with Swarthmore and Gettysburg tied for first going into the final week.

Gettysburg heads into the final week of the regular season tied for the top spot in the Centennial Conference. The Bullets have never hosted the conference tournament semifinals or championship. Junior Caroline Murphy (Chatham, N.J./Chatham) averaged 18 points, nine rebounds, and six assists per game in two wins last week. Gettysburg has held the nation’s No. 1 field-goal percentage defense since Jan. 17. The Bullets have not allowed an opponent to break the 60-point barrier in 19 games.

With its win over Washington College, the Garnet clinched a berth in the Centennial Conference playoffs for the first time since the 2004-05 season. Sophomore Elle Larsen (Lancaster, Pa./Hempfield) has been unstoppable in the paint of late, averaging 20.0 points per game in the Garnet’s last three games, including matching a career-high 23 against Washington College. 

Muhlenberg senior Alita Zabrecky (Center Valley, Pa./ Southern Lehigh) averaged 16.0 points, 4.7 rebounds and 3.3 steals as Muhlenberg won three games to clinch a berth in the CC playoffs. She shot 52.6 percent from the field. 

Washington College junior Latisha Pledger (Chesapeake, VA/Indian River) averaged a double-double 10.5 points and 13.0 rebounds in an 0-2 week for the Shorewomen. 

Dickinson senior Dana Walsh (Malvern, Pa./Great Valley) averaged 14.5 points and 5.5 rebounds last week. She shot 58 percent from the field (11-19) and 78 percent from the line, converting 7-of-9 free throws. She also added three assists, three steals and a pair of blocked shots.

Over the span of two games, Alexa Barbush (Etters, Pa., Trinity) averaged 20 points, five rebounds, five assists and three steals. Against Swarthmore on Saturday, the senior guard torched the Garnet for a career-high 34 points on 14-of-29 shooting from the floor.

McDaniel senior Rachael Rybak (Reisterstown, Md./Franklin) led the Green Terror to a 2-1 week, averaging 15.3 points per game. She shot 43.2 percent (19-for-44) from the field and 6-for-9 from the free-throw line. She also added eight rebounds, two assists, five steals and a blocked shot.

Ursinus junior Devin Butchko (Cream Ridge, N.J./Villa Victoria Academy) averaged 11 points in a 1-1 week for the Bears. She scored 14 points on 6-for-8 shooting against Hopkins, including two three pointers.
