The Swarthmore College women's soccer team battled with #17 nationally-ranked Connecticut College in the NCAA Division III Women's Soccer First Round match on Saturday, Nov. 16, falling to the Camels by a 3-1 score. Two late goals propelled Connecticut College into the second round to play Montclair State.

After Rebecca Raymond gave Connecticut College an early 1-0 by drilling a free kick from the top left of the box that initially went off the hands of junior goalkeeper Reba Magier, sophomore Hannah Lichtenstein knotted the match at 1-all. Classmate Mele Johnson sent a cross from the left side that was knocked in by Lichtenstein in acrobatic fashion, and the teams headed into the break in a deadlock.

Connecticut College (16-2-1), however, took the lead with 6:56 left in regulation when a corner kick found its way to the foot of Livi Block. A corner kick found the foot of Block. The freshman rifled a shot nearly 30 yards out that junior Amanda Bosworth attempted to head away, but the ball found its way into the back of the net to put the Camels ahead. The team added an insurance tally with just over a minute left when Michelle Medina stole the ball from the Garnet defense, pulled a challenging Magier out of the net and rocketed a shot into the net.
