The sixth-ranked Johns Hopkins women's tennis team lost just eight games en route to a 9-0 win over host McDaniel Wednesday afternoon in Centennial Conference action. The Blue Jays win their ninth straight and improve to 13-2 overall and 7-0 in the conference. The Green Terror fall to 2-13 on the season and 0-7 in the conference with the loss. Hopkins quickly jumped out to a 3-0 lead by sweeping all three doubles matches. Sophomore Kaitlin Pfisterer and senior Andrea Berlinghof won 8-1 over Kiersten Patron and Chelsea Barnett at first. Senior Ariel Several and junior Lauren Fields were 8-0 winners at second over Sophie White and Danielle Cloney. And at third, freshmen Kara McDonough and Staley Smith defeated Lauren Lewis and Angela Johnson, 8-0.

Franklin & Marshall 6, Gettysburg 3
Franklin & Marshall captured all three doubles points en route to a 6-3 triumph over Gettysburg in Centennial Conference (CC) women's tennis action on Wednesday. The Diplomats move to 6-7 overall and 3-4 in CC play with the win, while the Bullets drop to 8-5, 3-4 CC. F&M swept doubles play to jump out to a 3-0 edge early on. The Diplomats dropped just seven games throughout the three spots, with the No. 2 tandem of Dana Sleeper and Meredith Lackey earning a 8-1 win and the No. 3 duo of Emily Gruenberg and Julia Fiala claiming an 8-2 win. The No. 1 team of Anya Sahaydachny and Megan FitzMaurice tallied an 8-4 victory to make it 3-0 F&M. At No. 1 singles, Sahaydachny lost a tight three-setter, 5-7, 6-2, 10-7 to Caroline Haymans.

The Mules (5-8 overall) have won three straight to move into fifth place in the CC with a 5-3 mark and two matches remaining against nationally ranked Johns Hopkins (6-0 CC) and regionally ranked Dickinson (6-1 CC). A win in either match would put Muhlenberg in no worse than a tie for the fifth and final playoff spot. For the second time this season, the Mules came back to win on the road after dropping two of three doubles matches. Juniors Nina Sanders and Emily Szulman continued their recent strong play at No. 1 doubles, winning 8-1 for their fifth straight victory, but the Bears took the other two doubles matches. The Muhlenberg women’s tennis team made another push toward a Centennial Conference playoff berth with a 6-3 win at Ursinus.
