BALTIMORE, MD – The 13th-ranked and top-seeded Johns Hopkins women’s tennis team best fifth-seeded Dickinson, 5-0, in the semifinals of the 2016 Centennial Conference Tournament on Saturday afternoon at the JHU Tennis Courts. The Blue Jays (16-4) will play in the championship match for the 10th straight year. The Red Devils, playing in the conference tournament for the first time, finish their season at 10-6.
Sophomore Caroline Greydak and junior Jody Law opened the match with an 8-0 win at third doubles over Lydia Fox and Elizabeth Marin to grab the first point for the Blue Jays. Sophomore Megumi Chen and freshman Kimberly Zou followed with an 8-1 win at second against Joana Nunes and Madison Parks. Juniors Mikey Barthelmass and Ashnaa Rao closed out doubles and gave Hopkins a 3-0 lead as they beat Sydney Diamond and Lauren Altschuler, 8-3, at first.
Junior Anna Kankanala earned a quick win in singles to push Hopkins’ lead to 4-0. She lost just one game as she beat Marin 6-1, 6-0 at fifth singles. Sophomore Sunaina Vohra then clinched the win and needed just one more game than Kankanala as she defeated Diamond 6-1, 6-1 at second.
Hopkins will take on Washington College in the Centennial Conference Championship on Sunday at 1:00 pm. The winner receives the conference’s automatic qualifier to the NCAA Tournament.

BALTIMORE, Md. — The Washington College women's tennis team, ranked 39th in Division III and eighth in the Atlantic South region, defeated Swarthmore, ranked 16th in the region, 5-1 in a Centennial Conference women's tennis semifinal today at Johns Hopkins. The Shorewomen advanced to tomorrow's championship match and improved to 15-3 overall with the win, while the Garnet end the season with a 9-7 record.

Doubles
- The Shorewomen took a 1-0 lead courtesy of an 8-1 win by Krista Filiopoulos and MP Hubert over Ashley Gao and Rachel Bronkema at No. 3.
- Rachel Martinez and Julie Lazer followed with an 8-6 win against Julia Gokhberg and Anna Scheibmeir at No. 2 after winning the final five games of the match.
- April Weaver and Marielle McIntyre, ranked 12th in the region in doubles, finished the doubles sweep for Washington with a 9-8(4) win against Maria Cuervo and Alli Wong at No. 1.
Singles
- Swarthmore got on the board when Bronkema completed a 6-2, 6-3, win against Hubert at No. 5.
- The Shorewomen got within a point of winning the match thanks to a 6-3, 6-2, victory by Martinez over Arya Jemal at No. 3.
- Filiopoulos notched the winning point with her 7-5, 6-0, win against Scheibmeir at No. 4.
- The rest of the matches went unfinished as Centennial Conference Tournament matches are played to decision.
