• The Short Story: The 14th-ranked Johns Hopkins women's tennis team opened NCAA Tournament play with a 5-0 win over Grove City Friday afternoon.
 
How it Happened 
• The Blue Jays lost just five games en route to a sweep of doubles. Hopkins then grabbed two quick wins in singles to close out the win.
• Freshman Evelyn Chang and senior Katie Gauch picked up the first point of the match with an 8-1 win over Leigh-Ann Trepanier and Rachel Ford at third doubles. Sophomore Dhanya Asokumar and senior Kimberly Zou then beat Maggie Manchester and Madi Reed, 8-2, at second. Sophomore Anjie Kashyap and junior Sophia Strickland closed out doubles with an 8-2 win over Morgan Happe and Jenn Elder at first.
• Senior Chrissy Simon pushed the Blue Jays' lead to 4-0 when she beat Trepanier at sixth without losing a game. Asokumar then sent Hopkins to the second round with a 6-1, 6-0 win over Ford at fifth.
 
What it Means
• Today's match was the first-ever meeting between the Blue Jays and the Wolverines.
• Hopkins runs its win streak to 17 games, breaking the school record set by the 2013 squad.
• Simon earned her 44th career singles win and is now tied for 11th in program history. Strickland earned her 46th doubles win to move into a tie for 11th.
