GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Ali Flores, who has served as Gettysburg College's head men's and women's tennis coach since 2017, has resigned her position effective immediately.

"I can't thank Ali enough for her work to build and grow the tennis program competitively on the court, as well as provide an excellent student-athlete experience off of it for both the men's and women's members of our tennis teams," Executive Director of Intercollegiate Athletics and Campus Recreation Mike Mattia said. "I wish her nothing but the best as she begins the next phase of her professional life."

Flores departs the collegiate coaching ranks to take on a full-time teaching position in the Gettysburg Area School District.

A former standout on the court for the Bullets, Flores took over the women's program for the 2017-18 season before adding men's head coaching duties a year later. She guided the women's team to an overall record of 12-8 and its first appearance in the Centennial Conference tournament in 2018-19. The Bullets scored their first postseason victory with a 5-4 win over Franklin & Marshall College in the opening round. Flores was named CC Coach of the Year and saw three of her players honored on the all-conference team.

During the shortened 2021 season, Flores saw first-year players Alex Kagan and Michael Zayneh capture all-conference honors. Kagan was the first men's tennis all-conference singles player from Gettysburg since 2013 while Kagan and Zayneh were the first all-conference Bullets' double team to receive the recognition since 2012. Her 2021-22 men's squad recorded eight wins for the highest single-season wins total since 2011.

Flores served as a part-time assistant men's and women's tennis coach for the Bullets in 2011 and 2015. She was also a four-year member of the Gettysburg women's tennis team, finishing her career with a combined singles and doubles record of 72-55. She ranks third in program history in doubles victories (37) and is tied for ninth in singles wins (35).

A Gettysburg, Pa. native, Flores received her bachelor's in physical education from Gettysburg in 2008 and a Master of Science in Education degree in sport pedagogy from Baylor University in 2009.

Furthermore, Mattia has also announced that, moving forward, the head coach for men's and women's tennis will be a full-time position. A national search has already begun for that position with the anticipation of having an individual in place prior to the start of practice for the spring season.
