Johns Hopkins Claims 11th Consecutive Title

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. -- Johns Hopkins won 14 of 19 events to run away with its 11th consecutive Centennial Conference Women's Indoor Track & Field championship on Sunday at Ursinus. The Blue Jays tallied 343 to set the record for the largest margin of victory in championship history.  

Swarthmore finished second with 87 points, followed by Dickinson (72), Franklin & Marshall (67), and Ursinus (37) in the top five. 

Five championship meet records and one conference record were broken during the two-day meet. JHU's Alex Ross (5,000m - 17:03.93), Ella Baran (mile - 4:51.10), Victoria Kadiri (long jump - 5.85m), and Annie Gutierrez (pole vault - 3.83m) set new individual championship marks. The F&M 4x800 relay set new conference and championship marks for the second-straight championship as June Sanchez, Alexis Salerno, Laura Greene, Elizabeth O'Connell crossed in 9:26.76. 

Four athletes captured multiple individual golds, led by three from JHU's Kadiri. In addition to her record-breaking long jump, Kadiri also grabbed gold in the 60-meter dash (7.89) and the pentathlon (3,299). JHU's Ross was a double winner in the distance events, taking the 5,000 and the 3,000 (9:54.93), while Gutierrez also won the 60 hurdles (8.93) in addition to the pole vault. Swarthmore's Adria Retter dominated the throws, winning both the shot put (13.72m) and weight throw (15.15m) for the Garnet. 

Other golds for Hopkins included Lauren Phillips in the 200 (26.17), Ashley Tyburski in the 400 (59.04), Taryn Silvernale in the high jump (1.62m), Sophie Nilsson, in the triple jump (11.34m), the 4x400 relay of Phillips, Katie Sullivan, Anna Zaeske and Tyburski (4:02.51), and the distance medley relay of Lina Spjut, Sullivan, Harrinee Senthilkumar and Diana Vizza (12:17.38). 

Swarthmore's Rose Teszler won the 800 meters in 2:16.56, while the McDaniel 4x200 relay of Gabrielle Collins, Katie Morgan, Angel Bidgell and Yeseniah Ortiz took gold in 1:47.47.
