NEW ORLEANS, LA – Johns Hopkins junior Victoria Kadiri added yet another honor to her impressive resume today as she was named the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Division III Women's Field Athlete of the Year for the 2023 indoor track and field season.  Kadiri is the first Johns Hopkins recipient of the award and it's the second time she has earned National Field Athlete of the Year honors as she was selected as the 2022 outdoor honoree by the USTFCCCA.

Kadiri won the long jump and triple jump at the 2023 NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships last week in Birmingham, Alabama.  Her title in the long jump was her second straight, while she grabbed gold in the triple jump for the first time and did so with a remarkable jump of 13.18-meters (43'-03") – a jump that shattered the previous national record of 12.77-meters (41'10.75") that had stood since 1995.  For good measure, Kadiri also placed fifth in the pentathlon at the NCAA Championships for a total of three All-America finishes.

Kadiri became the first repeat indoor national champion in the long jump since Caitlin Schetter (Wisconsin-La Crosse) went back-to-back in 2008 and 2009.  She is also just the fourth person to twice win the event at the NCAA Championships; in addition to Kadiri and Schetter, two other individuals won the event twice, but did not do so in back-to-back years.

After winning the long jump on the first day of the NCAA Championships, Kadiri made it a sweep with her triple jump title on day two.  In the process, she became the first person to win the long jump and triple jump at the NCAA Championships since Alexa Wandy (SUNY Geneseo) won both in 2017.  Since the NCAA first sponsored the Division III Women's Indoor Track Championships in 1985, Kadiri is just the ninth person to win the long jump and triple jump in the same year.
