Women’s Track Athlete of the Week - May 1, 2017

Felicia Koerner, Soph, Johns Hopkins
Munich, Germany/Bavarian International School

Koerner competed in the 5,000 meter run at Penn Relays. Koerner finished 13th in a field of 63 with a time of 16:44.67, less than 10 seconds off of the Hopkins program record of 16:35.56. Koerner’s time is just the fourth sub-16:45 time by a DIII runner this season and is 2.72 seconds off of her personal record, which she set in the indoor season.

Women’s Track Athlete of the Week – April 24, 2017

Amanda Asaro, Sr, Gettysburg
Mount Kisco, N.Y./Fox Lane

Asaro won the mile in record-breaking fashion at the Gettysburg Mason-Dixon Invitational. With a winning time of 5:04.70, she lowered her own school, meet, and stadium while also clipping the Centennial Conference record. Asaro beat out 20 competitors in the event, and she also took fourth in a field of 38 in the 800-meter run (2:23.39), helping the Bullets to the team title.

 

Women’s Track Athlete of the Week – April 17, 2017

Sofia Canning, Jr, Dickinson
Portland, Maine/Waynflete

Canning finished sixth overall, behind all Division I runners, clocking the second-best time in program history of 35:48.26 in the 10,000 meter invitational race. Her time ranks her fourth on the national list this season.

Women’s Track Athlete of the Week – April 10, 2017

Felicia Koerner placed sixth in a field of 66 at the Mason Spring Invitational in the 1,500 meter run. Koerner posted a time of 4:28.81, which ranks second in the nation in the event. Koerner is just the second Blue Jay to run a sub-4:30 time in the 1,500 meters.

 

Women’s Track Athlete of the Week - April 3, 2017

Sophomore Felicia Koerner set a Hopkins program record in the 10,000 meter run at the Colonial Relays. Koerner posted a time of 34:27.60 for a third place finish in the field of 32. Koerner topped her previous best by nearly 4:00 and broke the previous JHU 10,000 meter record by 15.03 seconds. Koerner's time of 34:27.60 ranks first in the country among DIII athletes.

 

Women’s Track Athlete of the Week - March 27, 2017

Amanda Asaro, Sr, Gettysburg
Mount Kisco, N.Y./Fox Lane

Asaro won the 1,500-meter run and placed third in the 5,000 to help Gettysburg capture the Little Three Meet title. She clocked a personal record time of 4:45.10 in the 1,500, which ranks her third in school history. Asaro also ran her first-ever 5,000 on the track and posted a time (18:21.64) that ranks her ninth all-time at Gettysburg. Her efforts helped the Bullets edge out Dickinson by three points to give the team its first Little Three title since 2010.
