Tuesday, October 18

Johns Hopkins 3, Dickinson 0
Freshman Meagan Donohoe set a school match record as she led the Johns Hopkins volleyball team to a 3-0 win over Centennial Conference opponent Dickinson, Tuesday night by game scores of 25-9, 25-15, 25-15.  With the win tonight, the Blue Jays guarantee themselves a spot in the CC Tournament that is set to begin the first week of November.  Hopkins extends its winning streak to seven matches and have won the first seven conference matches this season for the best start to conference action since 2002. Hopkins is now 17-4 on the season and a perfect 7-0 in the CC while Dickinson falls to 3-16 with a 1-6 conference record.

 

Wednesday, October 19

Gettysburg 3, McDaniel 0
Gettysburg College continued to keep pace atop the Centennial Conference standings by defeating McDaniel College 3-0 on the volleyball court Wednesday night.  With the victory Gettysburg (17-8, 7-0 CC) remained tied with Johns Hopkins University (17-4, 7-0 CC), which defeated Dickinson College 3-0, for first place in the conference standings. The Bullets easily dispatched McDaniel (0-22, 0-7 CC) with scores of 25-8, 25-14, and 25-9. 

 

Haverford 3, Bryn Mawr 0
Haverford College battled Bryn Mawr College Wednesday night in a Centennial Conference volleyball contest with the Fords taking a 3-0 decision over the visiting Owls on the Gooding Arena floor.  Haverford (10-11, 4-2 CC) trailed Bryn Mawr (9-14, 3-4) only twice, by one point each time, in a 25-22 game-one win, then never trailed during a 25-21 game-two victory in rolling to a hard-fought 2-0 lead over the Owls.  Bryn Mawr broke out to early three-point leads on four occasions to threaten the Fords in game three, however, eventually stretching the lead to 11-6. After tying the score at 13-13 and then again at 15-15, Haverford's Madison Fueling's kill put the Fords ahead 16-15 and the team never looked back in its 25-21 match-clinching game three triumph.


Swarthmore 3, Muhlenberg 0
Swarthmore (18-6, 5-3 CC)  made it four consecutive shutout wins on Wednesday night, dominating the visiting Muhlenberg Mules (6-16, 4-4 CC) in Tarble Pavilion, 3-0 (25-19, 25-15, 25-8).  Senior outside hitter Genny Pezzola was a force to be reckoned with, taking control of the game all over the court, leading the game in kills with 17 and finishing with the second most digs with 12. 

 

Ursinus 3, Washington College 2
Ursinus rallied from a 2-0 deficit in the third set, on its way to a come-from-behind 3-2 win over Washington College in a tightly contested volleyball match Wednesday night.  After losing the first two sets, 25-22 and 25-17, Ursinus won the next three 25-17, 25-15 and 16-14. 

 

Thursday, October 20

Johns Hopkins 3, Notre Dame (Md.) 0
For the second time this season the Johns Hopkins volleyball team took on cross-town opponent, Notre Dame (MD), and for the second time this season the Blue Jays swept the Gators. The Blue Jays won 3-0 with set scores of 25-4, 25-9, 25-6.  The Blue Jays won their eighth straight match to improve to 18-4 on the season while the Gators fall to 3-17 with their sixth straight loss.
