In a poll of Conference coaches, Swarthmore was selected as the preseason favorite to win the 2016 title.

The Garnet received seven first-place votes and earned a total of 93 points to secure the top spot in the preseason poll. Johns Hopkins received one first-place vote and collected 85 points to finish 2nd in the poll. Picked to finish 3rd, Franklin & Marshall had three first-place votes and 79 points. McDaniel gathered 76 points to edge out Muhlenberg (74 points) for the fourth spot.
