WESTMINSTER, Md. – Gettysburg College's winning streak to start the year came to an end with a 3-1 setback at McDaniel College in a Centennial Conference volleyball match up Wednesday night inside the Gill Center.
Gettysburg (12-1, 1-1 CC) saw its longest win streak since 2004 come to a close at McDaniel (10-1, 1-0 CC). The Green Terror won the first two sets 25-22 and 25-10 before the Bullets stormed back for a 25-12 decision. The hosts led throughout the fourth set on the way to a 25-19 victory.
Freshman Allie Stranick (Havertown, Pa./Merion Mercy) posted her eighth double-double of the campaign with 16 kills and 11 digs. Sophomore Kasey Higgins (Bridgewater, N.J./Bridgewater-Raritan) managed 10 kills, while senior Maddie Weikert (Gettysburg, Pa./Gettysburg) posted eight kills and 16 digs.
Senior Katherine Gilbert (Baltimore, Md./Notre Dame Prep) led the defensive effort with 18 digs for Gettysburg. Senior setter Stephanie Blair (Chester, N.J./West Morris Mendham) dished out 32 assists and put up 14 digs.
Marlowe Embry led the Green Terror with a dozen kills. Taylor Bauman recorded 30 digs and Kendall Hanah put up 15.
Gettysburg will look to rebound this Saturday when it hosts Ursinus College at 1 p.m.
