Alex Ross, Johns Hopkins, Runner of the Year

LANCASTER, Pa. -- Centennial Conference champion Johns Hopkins swept the major awards and secured eight all-conference spots on the 2022 All-Centennial Women's Cross Country Team. Alex Ross was named Runner of the Year, Viviana Li was tabbed Rookie of the Year and the Blue Jay coaching staff received Coaching Staff of the Year honors.

Ross won the individual title at last weekend's championship and put together a stellar regular season to earn Runner of the Year accolades via a coaches vote following the championship. Now a two-time All-Centennial honoree, Ross's honor marks the 10th time in the past 14 seasons that a JHU runner earned the CC's top award. During the season, Ross won the Baltimore Metro Invitational, recorded a personal record of 20:33 in the 6k at the Paul Short Invitational, finished top-20 at the University of Virginia Panorama Farms Invitational that featured all Division I competition, and placed sixth at the Michigan State Spartan Invitational.

Li placed 10th at the CC championship en route to Rookie of the Year honors. The Blue Jays continue to own the Rookie of the Year award, as they have now claimed the honor in each of its 10 years of existence. Li's 10th-place finish also secured a spot on the All-CC second team.

The JHU coaching staff was selected as Coaching Staff of the Year. Head coach Bobby Van Allen and assistants Shedrick Elliott III, Maura Knestout and Maggie Shelton led the Blue Jays to their 14th consecutive CC title.

Hopkins took home eight of the 14 possible all-conference spots, including five of seven on the first team. Ross, Paloma Hancock, Sydney Friedel, Sara Stephenson and Katharine Priu were first-teamers for the Blue Jays. It marks the second-straight first-team honor for Ross and Hancock, while Friedel and Stephenson were both second-team honorees in 2021. Priu is the lone three-time All-CC award winner, having previously earned second team honors in both 2019 and 2021 as well as Rookie of the Year in 2019. Runners to earn second-team accolades for the Blue Jays included Cooper Brotherton, Isis Diaz, and Li.

Ursinus' Rachel Conhoff and Haverford's Katie Hirsche nabbed the final two spots on the All-CC first team, both earning all-star recognition for the first time in their careers.

Swarthmore's Rose Teszler, Ursinus' Holly Chambers and Dickinson's Elizabeth Cassell and Myra Naqvi rounded out the second team performers.
