COLLEGEVILLE, PA - In a rematch of the last two Centennial
Conference Championship games, Johns Hopkins faced off against
third-ranked Ursinus in Collegeville. The Blue Jays could not upset
the home team, falling 5-1 to the four-time defending champion
Bears. Hopkins, now 16-4 overall, will find out on Sunday night if
it will play in the NCAA Tournament. Ursinus, now 17-2, earns the
conference's automatic qualifier to the NCAAs.
Megan Yoder put the Bears on top at 19.58, converting a pass from
Jennie Moore. Less than five minutes later, Alyssa Thren collected
a rebound off the pads of junior goalie Sophia Tieu (Cupertino,
CA/Cupertino) to put Ursinus up 2-0.
Coming out of the half, Moore scored on a high shot, just 2:38 in
to push the Bears' lead to three. Ursinus took a 4-0 advantage off
a Katie Mastoris goal at 51:32 before Thren made it 5-0 at
66:03.
Senior Adair Landy (Montclair, NJ/Montclair) ended Erica Scott's
bid at a shutout when she put home a pass from senior Leah Horton
(Wayne, PA/Upper Merion Area), Hopkins all-time assist leader.
Tieu finished with a career-high and JHU Centennial Conference
Tournament record 17 saves in the game. Scott made one save in the
