Head Coach Jeff Pukszyn

Pukszyn (Moravian ’97) posted a 2-8 record in his first season … he was named head coach of the Greyhounds on July 1 after 10 years as assistant head coach … Puksyzn joined the Moravian staff full-time in 1999 … he is the 12th head coach at Moravian since 1930 and just the fourth since 1955.

The Greyhound offense struggled mightily last season, averaging 214.4 yards and 10.0 points per game ... junior Robbie Moyer is the heir apparent under center, throwing for 350 yards and running for 242 more a year ago ... seniors Joe Tegan and CJ Billera return in the backfield ... Tegan gained 349 yards, while Billera rushed for 253 while catching 14 balls for 116 yards ... senior Rocco Del Priore is the leading returning receiver after catching 17 passes last fall ... classmate Ryan Onushco added 11 catches while Albie Moran and Chris Soltys will also compete for playing time ... junior Julian DiGiacomo, who started all 10 games last season, along with seniors Jim Tersigni and Billy Viscuso are the leaders of the offensive line.

Moravian's defense was stingy in yards allowed last fall, ranking 78th in Division III, but surrendered 26.5 points per outing ... the 'Hounds challenge in 2012 will be replacing the interior line and most of the linebacking corps ... senior Jake Hildebrand is the lone returning starter at linebacker ... he is the leading returning tackler, making 48 in seven games, including 7.5 for loss ... classmate Luke Trexler will push for a starting berth ... an experienced secondary is back in the fold, led by senior CBs Travis King and Rees Judge ... King was a big-play corner with five picks, two fumble recoveries and 45 tackles ... Judge had 41 stops and four picks, while junior SS Brandon Lesko had 37 tackles.

P-Tyler Thompson, Sr.

Senior Tyler Thompson punted 71 times for a 32.8-yard average last fall, placing 20 kicks inside the 20 ... King and Del Priore are the main return men ... King averaged 17.0 yards on kicks and 9.3 yards on opunts, while Del Priore averaged 22.7 on kicks.

2012 Outlook

Moravian stumbled out of the gate last season and never got its footing in Jeff Pukszyn's first season ... the offense will have to carry the load for an inexperienced defense early on ... the 'Hounds will be improved but may be a year away from contending for a Conference crown.

 

 

The Rocco Calvo Field was renovated in 2005. The old playing surface was replaced with a synthetic surface produce by Sportexe. Sportexe Momentum™ is designed to be dense, firm, fast -- a superior surface to handle the demands of top level athletics.  There were also renovations to the structure of the grandstand with new seating added on both the home and visitor sides of the field.
