Triandafilou remained perfect with a 15-5 major decision at Johns Hopkins. It was the first-year heavyweight's highest-scoring effort of the season and third major decision as he improved to 15-0

 Sophomore A.J. Kowal put forth a dominant effort Saturday, taking the title at 184 at the Cornell Matman Invitational. Kowal won all four of his matches by pin in an average time of 2:02, including his quickest pin of the day in the final in 1:21. In the championship, Kowal knocked-off the No. 5 wrestler in the country at 184. The 16-team field featured nine squads who are currently ranked in the NWCA top-25.

Ursinus junior Derek Arnold pinned all four of his opponents as Ursinus won all four if its matches during the North/South Duals on Saturday.

Media, Pa. / Haverford School

Tassoni helped the Generals to a 1-2 team record in the W&L Duels on Dec. 21 by going 3-0 overall in his matches at 184 pounds. All three of his matches were won by fall as he improved to 17-1 on the season. He opened the event with a pin of Ohio Northern's Ian Brown in 4:36 and then pinned Brandon Rudy of Lycoming in 3:23. He finished with a pin of Muskingum's Caleb Cox in 1:20. Tassoni is now just two wins away from setting the school's career win record with an 81-27 overall mark.

Gockel-Figge won both of his bouts as NYU faced Wilkes University and Greensboro College on Saturday at McDaniel College in Westminster, MD. In his first bout, Gockel-Figge, ranked #-7 at 184 pounds by the NCWA (National Wrestling Coaches Association), won a 2-1 decision over #4-ranked Kyle Diesel of Wilkes. Then, against his opponent from Greensboro, Gockel-Figge recorded a fall in just 2:23. He is now a perfect 8-0 this season with two falls.

Huntington Beach, Calif. / Marina

Junior Colin Navickas captured the 165 lb. title at this weekend's Messiah Petrofes Invitational, leading the Ducks to a second place finish in the 13-team field. Navickas opened the weekend with a pair of technical fall wins in the first two rounds, before a major decision and third technical catapulted him into the final. Navickas faced his closest match of the weekend there, but ultimately triumphed by decision, 5-4.

Simi Valley, Calif. / Simi Valley

Gockel-Figge was one of the bright spots for #21 NYU on Sunday against #12 Stevens at the Grapple at the Garden in a 28-12 loss. The junior picked up a 14-5 major decision over Danny Moore. The 184-pounder continues his strong start to the season and is now 4-0 with a fall and a major decision.

Sophomore A.J. Kowal put-forth a dominating effort Saturday to win the title at 197 lbs. at the Doug Parker Invitational. Kowal tallied three pins to go along with a pair of major decision victories, including a 14-4 win in the final.

Noah Malamut, So, 125, Gettysburg
Brooklyn, N.Y. / Poly Prep

Malamut took home the title at 125 pounds at the Ursinus Fall Brawl. Making his season debut, the sophomore scored a first-period pin (2:36) and an 8-6 decision before earning a medical forfeit to reach the finals. He wrapped up his first collegiate title with a 3-2 decision in the finals.

 

November 9, 2015 - Nathan Pike, Jr, 133, NYU

Nathan Pike went 5-0 -- three technical falls, one fall and one major decision -- at the Ithaca College Invitational over the weekend. The returning All-American claimed the 133-pound title in a tough weight class and was named the Invitational's "Most Outstanding Wrestler" for his efforts.
