Reyes & Luth Repeat as Regional Champions; Eight Qualify for Nationals

Johns Hopkins' Dominick Reyes and Washington and Lee's Ryan Luth repeated as individual champions to lead a contingent of eight Centennial Conference wrestlers who qualifed for nationals at the NCAA Regional Championships over the weekend. 

The seven Centennial squads competed at three different regional sites. At the Southeast Regional, Washington and Lee placed fourth out of 20 in the team standings with 103.5 points, while Gettysburg took 13th with 39 points. At the 18-team Mideast Regional, Ursinus was the top CC team in fifth place with 95 points, followed by Muhlenberg (82.5) and Johns Hopkins (66.5) in sixth and seventh, respectively. McDaniel placed ninth with 56.5 points. Merchant Marine competed at the Northeast Regional and finished 12th of 19 with 44.5 points. 

Reyes won the 165 Mideast title while Luth won the 157 Southeast title to headline CC performances. Reyes and Luth became the ninth and 10th wrestlers in Centennial history to win multiple regional titles throughout their careers. 

Muhlenberg's Joey Lamparelli finished as the Mideast runner-up at 125 to advance to the national championship. Third-place finishers who nabbed the final spot into nationals in their weight classes included W&L's Riley Parker (125), Ursinus' Terry Adams (125), Gettysburg's Luke Kowalski (133), Muhlenberg's Brandon Bowles (149), and JHU's Hank Behaeghel (285)

The national championship is set for March 11-12 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
