2014 Outlook

Dickinson finished below .500 for the fourth straight season for the first time since the mid-80s ... Ahnell leads an improving offense, but improvement on the defensive side of the ball will determine whether the Red Devils post a winning season in 2014.

 

 

Head Coach Darwin Breaux

Breaux (West Chester ‘77) enters his 22nd year as Dickinson’s head coach ... he is the winningest football coach in school history with a 124-90-1 career record … Breaux was named the AFCA South Region Coach of the Year in 1994 … he led the Red Devils to Conference titles in 1993, 1994, 2004 and 2006.

The Red Devil offense averaged 21 points per game over the first seven contests, but sputtered down the stretch after an injury to QB Cole Ahnell ... Ahnell, a three-year starter, is back under center after rushing for 517 yards and throwing for 766 more in seven games ... TB Shawn Wilson is the top returning back after gaining 772 yards a year ago, while Cedric Madden picked up 340 ... the offensive line is young but gained a great deal of experience last season ... senior WR Eric Ondo is the top receiving threat.

The Dickinson defense allowed 31.8 points and 425.6 yards per game last fall - numbers that have to improve for the Red Devils to contend for a Conference title ... three starters are back up front, led by DE Kevin Sherry who had 35 tackles and 2.5 sacks last season, while the return of Walker Moriarty from a 2013 injury will help ... senior Connor Thompson leads the LB corps after registering 54 tackles in 2013 ... senior CB Mitch Helmandollar had 37 stops and broke up six passes a year ago, while S Jake Myers shared the team lead with two picks.

Senior Adam Kaminski handles the place-kicking duties for the Red Devils ... he was perfect on all 20 PATs and was 5-of-9 on three-pointers, including a season-best of 41 yards ... junior Austin High took over the punting duties in the second half of the season, averaging 34.3 yards per kick.

 

Biddle Field


Biddle Field
(capacity 2,577) is home to the football field, outdoor track, tennis courts and areas for soccer, field hockey and lacrosse. In 2009, the field underwent an extensive renovation and now features an eco-friendly lighting system, synthetic turf used by many professional sports teams and Division I colleges, new fencing and an eight-lane track that conforms to NCAA standards for competition.
