Men's Tennis Takes Down Rutgers-Camden, 9-0

CAMDEN, N.J. – The Ursinus Men's Tennis team cruised to a 9-0 win over Rutgers-Camden in non-conference action on Friday afternoon.

 

With the win, the Bears improved to 8-6 overall as they took a quick break from Centennial Conference action as the final week of the regular season approaches. Meanwhile, the Scarlet Raptors of the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) fell to 0-5 overall.

 

 

The Bears won all three doubles matches to take an early 3-0 advantage in the match. Freshman Hunter Murray and Storm Snape earned the No. 3 doubles match by forfeit while sophomore Ethan Yu and Noah Mandel earned the 8-0 win at the No. 1 doubles spot over Andrew Yuen and Ken Tuppal. Sophomore Rob Ritchie and senior Simbarashe Kanjanda completed the doubles sweep by winning 8-0 over Hani Qureshi and Cristian Valdez at No. 2 doubles.

 

 

Kanjanda and Mandel earned forfeit wins at No. 5 and No. 6 singles to clinch the match for the Bears while Murray and Snape each earned their first collegiate wins with 6-0, 6-0 triumphs. Murray defeated Qureshi at the No. 3 position while Snape took down Valdez at No. 4 singles. Sophomore Will Oberholtzer dispatched Tuppal 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2 singles and classmate Lars Jespersen won 6-1, 6-1 over Yuen at No. 1 singles.

 

 

The Bears return to action on Tuesday, April 26th as they will host Franklin & Marshall for a pivotal Centennial Conference matchup at 6:30 p.m.
