Women's Soccer Beaten by Late Bryn Mawr Goal

Collegeville – The Ursinus College women's soccer team lost a tight 1-0 match to Bryn Mawr on a cool Wednesday night at Patterson Field. It was a scoreless affair for almost the entirety of the game until the 89th minute when Paige Mastripolito put the Owls on top with a tap-in shot facilitated by a Kass Wojcik assist.

The game appeared destined for overtime, but a long diagonal ball played in Wojcik, who sent a cross across the goal-mouth for Mastripolito to fire home the game-winning goal from close range.

Ursinus spent most of the first stanza in the attacking zone, tallying six shots (three on goal) to the Owls' two (one on goal). The Bears had two stand-out opportunities in the first half, both coming off the leg of Junior Morgan Raley. In the 28th minute, she ripped a shot from just outside the box that was saved by Bryn Mawr keeper Grecia Prieto. Raley had another strong attempt in the 31st minute, missing just wide left from range.

The Bears (1-4-1, 0-2) had a golden chance early in the second half when sophomore Alex Chalmers missed high on a close shot following a Bryn Mawr give-away. A short time later, fellow sophomore Ciara Rago had an amazing chance that originated from an Emmy Sinnett corner kick but failed to convert. Ursinus kept the pressure on with just over 30 minutes remaining in the stanza when Izzy Allocco had a powerful blast stopped by Prieto. In an unfortunate night, the Bears could not find the back of the net.

In the end, Ursinus fell short despite outshooting Bryn Mawr, 10-5. Ursinus will see action on Saturday at 4:30 at home against No. 21 Dickinson. The game will take place on Family Day at Patterson Field.
