The Lead: Roanoke traveled to the United States Lacrosse Hall of Fame in Sparks, Maryland for a neutral site matchup with Dickinson college on Sunday afternoon. The game would be played close throughout with Dickinson leading 10-9 at the half. Roanoke would trade goals with the Red Devils before seeing Dickinson use a 5-2 fourth quarter to take the game 19-15.

How it Happened:

  • Wyatt Whitlow scored off a feed from Luke Kammerman to get Roanoke off to a quick start. After scores by Quinn Evans and Sean Kennedy, the RC lead would be 3-0 after five-minutes of play.
  • Whitlow found Jay Frye to answer the first Red Devil score and after Luca Docking scored, Roanoke led 5-2. However, Dickinson would close the opening frame on a 3-0 surge to tie the game at 5-5.
  • Three more scores to start the second quarte would have the Maroons with an 8-5 deficit. Up a man, George Gilbert stopped the Dickinson run but the Red Devils would answer with two more scores. Whitlow closed the half with three consecutive scores and the Maroons trailed 10-9 at the half.
  •  Ethan Caldwell tied the game coming out of the break but Roanoke couldn't retake the lead. After an evenly played third period, the score was 14-13 heading into the final quarter of play.
  • The Dickinson lead would grow to three before Whitlow scored his fifth of the afternoon. Three of the last four goals would go in favor of the Red Devils as Roanoke fell, 19-15.
  • Whitlow led the offense with five goals while Gilbert added three as Docking and Caldwell added two scores apiece. Kammerman handed out six assists while Frye and John Dias each picked up four ground balls. Taylor Lewis once again got the start in goal and registered 16 saves.

Up Next: Roanoke will begin a three-game home stand on Saturday when they host Sewanee at 1:00pm.
