Stadler, Garrison Named Centennial Scholar-Athletes of the Year

LANCASTER, Pa. - Haverford junior James Stadler (Belmont, Mass./Belmont) and Muhlenberg senior Elizabeth Garrison (Glen Rock, Pa./Susquehannock) are the recipients of the Centennial Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Year award.

The Centennial recognizes a Scholar-Athlete of the Year in each of its 24 championship sports to a junior or senior member of the All-Conference team with the highest cumulative grade point average. The overall Scholar-Athletes of the Year are presented to the student with the highest GPA among the 12 men and 12 women's winners.

Stadler, a Mathematics major and three-sport athlete at Haverford, picked up Honorable Mention All-Centennial designation after finishing third in the 3000m steeplechase with a time of 9:33.55 at the 2017 CC Outdoor Track & Field Championship. The junior set new personal-best times in the 1500m, 5000m and 3,000m steeplechase this season and was named to his third straight Centennial Conference academic honor roll.

Garrison, the Muhlenberg College Class of 2017 Valedictorian, finished her four years at Muhlenberg with a perfect 4.00 grade point average while majoring in chemistry with a business administration minor. On the court, Garrison served as a team captain her senior season while breaking a school single-season record with 543 digs and earning All-Centennial Conference honorable mention at libero. She led the CC in total digs and finished fifth with 48 service aces. Garrison also earned CoSIDA Academic All-America first team honors this year after making the second team her junior season.
