PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Ryan Zakszeski, Johns Hopkins
Junior, C/3B, Gilbertsville, PA / Boyertown HS

Zakszeski had 11 hits in 20 at-bats (.550) with three home runs and six RBI. He scored six runs and posted a 1.050 slugging and a .571 on-base percentage for the week.

Gio Fricchione, McDaniel
Junior, RHP, New Tripoli, PA / Northwestern HS

Fricchione picked up a win and a save as the Green Terror swept Ursinus to claim its first Centennial playoff spot since 2003. He entered a two-on, nobody out situation to protect a 4-3 lead in the seventh of the opener and earned the save. Fricchione entered a 5-5 game in the eighth and stranded a runner. The Terror scored three times in the bottom of the inning for the victory.

AROUND THE CONFERENCE

McDaniel came up big when needed, sweeping a pair of doubleheaders against Franklin & Marshall and Ursinus to qualify for the Conference playoffs for the first time since 2003. The Green Terror, picked 10th in the coaches' preseason poll, has already set a program record for wins in a season (24).

Dickinson has also set a program single-season record with 25 victories. Senior LHP Sean White (Summit, NJ / Salisbury School, CT) tied the school career record with his 22nd win and set the program mark for career K's (274). Senior Garrett Horan (Providence, RI / Moses Brown School) tied the Red Devil career mark for doubles (43).

Gettysburg sophomore Al Posch (Hopedale, MA / Hopedale) set program single-season marks for hits (59) and at-bats (156) with a 6-for-10 day in the twinbill vs. Ursinus.

Haverford swept a doubleheader from Johns Hopkins for the first time in program history, downing the Blue Jays, 4-3 and 9-7. The series with JHU began in 1918.

Ursinus renamed its baseball field in honor of retiring coach Brian Thomas.

Johns Hopkins' senior RHP Blake Platt (Munster, IN / Munster) tied the school career record for appearances (54).

Talk about a great way to end your career … Muhlenberg senior Brian Beck (Metuchen, NJ / St. Joseph's) hit a game-winning grand slam in the final at-bat of his collegiate career as the Mules defeated Johns Hopkins, 12-7. 'Berg freshman Chris Manfredonia (Basking Ridge, NJ / Seton Hall Prep) enters the 2013 season with a school-record 24-game hitting streak.

Swarthmore finished with 21 wins, giving the Garnet its third consecutive season with 20+ victories for the first time in program history.

Washington College swept Muhlenberg in Allentown for the first time since 1998.
