Lynch hit .444 with four home runs, 11 RBI and nine runs scored in a 4-1 week. He was 3-for-4 with two round-trippers, five runs and five RBI vs. Widener.
Pitcher of the Week
Tommy Bergjans, Haverford
Sophomore, RHP, Manhattan Beach, Calif. / Loyola HS
Bergjans set a program single-game record with 18 strikeouts in a complete-game 4-2 victory against Washington College. He registered at least one K in eight of the nine frames and fanned the side three times.
Centennial Notebook
Gettysburg stopped Johns Hopkins’ 20-game win streak with an 8-7 win in Baltimore. The Bullets have won eight straight games – their longest streak during the season since 1998. Senior LHP Ryan Taylor (Eldersburg, Md. / Loyola Blakefield) is now second in school history in career strikeouts (240) and wins (20).
Johns Hopkins reached the 30-win plateau (30-3) for the 15th time in program history with a doubleheader sweep of Ursinus. The last two times that Blue Jays won 30 games they advanced to the College World Series (2008, 2010).
Franklin & Marshall senior SS Alex Vescera (Cranston, R.I. / Bishop Hendricken) hit .444 with a home run and nine RBI in a 4-0 week. He drove in five runs in a 9-1 win vs. Washington College.
Washington College senior OF Sean Connole (Mt. Airy, Md. / St. John’s Catholic) moved into second place on the school’s career list last week and now has 166. He is the toughest man to fan in the Conference this season, striking out just four times in 124 at-bats.
Swarthmore sophomore C Joe Rizzo (Norwood, N.J. / Northern Valley) has been hit-by-pitch a Conference record-setting 20 times this season. The Garnet has won 20 games for the fourth consecutive season after a 14-9 win at McDaniel.
McDaniel senior RHP Zach Jones (Frederick, Md. / Tuscarora) has not allowed a home run in 62 innings of work this season.
Muhlenberg senior Joseph Vila (Millington, N.J. / Seton Hall Prep) became the program’s all-time leader with 57 extra-base hits. He is also just the third player in Mule history to score 100 runs and drive in 100 in his career.
