ALLENTOWN, Pa. – The Gettysburg College baseball team earned a Centennial Conference (CC) sweep at Muhlenberg College on Saturday, winning the opener 8-5 before rallying to capture the nightcap 6-3.

With the wins, the Bullets (19-10, 8-5 CC) find themselves in fourth place in the conference standings with five CC games remaining.

Sophomore Connor Tom (Reinholds, Pa./Conrad Weiser) finished 5-for-9 on the day while senior Cory Karagjozi (Robbinsville, N.J./Robbinsville) went 4-for-9 with three runs scored.

In the opener, Gettysburg spotted senior starting pitcher Eric Hungerford (New Preston, Conn./Shepaug Valley) a 6-0 lead in the second inning, and it proved to be enough run support. The Mules (12-15, 6-8 CC) pulled to within 6-4 after the third inning, but the Bullets tacked on single runs insurance runs in the seventh and eighth.

Hungerford (5-1) scattered nine hits while yielding four runs (two earned) over seven innings and striking out six before giving way to junior Luke Lawrence (West Chester, Pa./West Chester East), who worked the final two innings.

Tom finished 3-for-5 with a double and two RBIs in Game One while junior Henry Klimowicz (Allenhurst, N.J./Christian Brothers Academy) went 2-for-5 with a triple and two runs. Junior Steve Wright (Holland, Pa./Council Rock South) added a pair of hits.

David Anderson (2-3) went 7 1/3 innings and allowed eight runs on 12 hits. The Mules were committed five errors that led to six unearned runs.

Muhlenberg struck first in the nightcap, plating a pair of runs in the first off sophomore starter Eric Brown (Marriottsville, Md./Marriotts Ridge). The Mules added a run in the fourth to go up 3-1, but Brown and sophomore reliever Aaron Bezio (Stafford, Va./Mountain View) would combine to blank the hosts the rest of the way.

The Bullets pulled even with single runs in the sixth and seventh, when junior Ben Langey (Cazenovia, N.Y./Cazenovia) triple and scored on a groundout versus reliever Christian Ferlan. Gettysburg completed its rally with a three-run eighth, which was sparked by a leadoff double from Klimowicz. Senior Mike Kielbasa (Ludlow, Mass./Loomis Chaffee School) followed up with the go-ahead RBI single before eventually scoring on a double steal, and a Mule error led to the final run of the inning.

Brown threw the opening 5 1/3 innings and came away with a no-decision, scattering three runs on six hits while striking out four. Bezio (2-1) earned his second win of the week, tossing 3 2/3 shutout innings and yielding just two hits while fanning five.

Karagjozi finished 3-for-5 with a double and two runs in the second game while Tom, junior Shawn Moffitt (Downingtown, Pa./Dowingtown East), and Kielbasa collected two hits apiece.

Timmy Pilrun threw the first six innings for Muhlenberg, allowing two runs on seven hits while striking out six before Ferlan (2-1) was saddled with the loss.
