JHU's Cooper, Steuerer & Romano Earn All-America Honors

D3baseball.com All-America Team | ABCA All-America Team

The Johns Hopkins trio of Matthew Cooper, Shawn Steuerer and Gabe Romano have been selected as All-Americans by both D3baseball.com and the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA).

Cooper, a senior outfielder, was selected to the first team by both organizations. Steuerer, a sophomore third baseman, and Romano, a graduate student pitcher, were second team picks by the ABCA and third teamers on the D3baseball.com squad.

The D3baseball.com and ABCA Regional Player of the Year, Cooper continues to lead a record setting charge by the Blue Jays offense this season with a .431 average, 24 home runs and 67 RBIs. His home run total leads the country and has set a new single season home run record in school history.

Steuerer is second on the Blue Jays in batting average at .420 and is the team leader in hits with 79, which is tied for 14th most in the nation this year.

Romano has pitched to a 1.76 ERA and a 10-1 record this season. His ERA is the ninth lowest in the country this season and he's helped the Blue Jays get three wins over top 25 opponents. Romano is the only Johns Hopkins pitcher to throw a complete game this year and he has thrown one in each of his last three starts.
