Bryn Mawr & Ursinus Display Offensive Prowess in First Round Victories

Bryn Mawr secured its first-ever Centennial Conference playoff victory while Ursinus overcame an early two-goal deficit to advance to the semifinals with opening-round wins in the CC field hockey tournament on Tuesday. 

In Bryn Mawr, Pa., the third-seeded Owls blanked sixth-seeded Haverford 4-0 to earn the first CC postseason win for Bryn Mawr in any sport.  Eva Yacura scored twice while Thekla Jubinville and Maggie Barilla each found the back of the net in the shutout win. Bryn Mawr will take on second-seeded Franklin & Marshall in Friday's semifinals in Lancaster at 7 p.m. 

In Collegeville, Pa., fourth-seeded Ursinus used a four-goal second half to rally from an early first half deficit and defeat Washington College 5-2. Trailing 2-0 after the first quarter, the Bears came roaring back with five unanswered scores to secure the win. Jordan Moore scored twice with one assist for Ursinus while Lauren Breisch added a goal and an assist. Kat Esposito tallied both goals for the Shorewomen. The Bears will head to Baltimore to take on top-seeded Johns Hopkins in Friday's semis at 6 p.m.
