Hopkins Completes Third Straight Unblemished CC Regular Season; Playoff Seeds Set

Championship Central

Johns Hopkins completed its third-straight unbeaten Centennial Conference regular season with a 1-0 triumph against Bryn Mawr on Saturday. The Blue Jays will be the top seed in the upcoming CC field hockey tournament.

JHU (No. 1), Franklin & Marshall (No. 2) and Bryn Mawr (No. 3) were already locked into their respective seeds heading into Saturday's contests.

Ursinus downed Gettysburg 3-0 on Friday night to secure the No. 4 seed and the right to host one of Tuesday's first round games. Washington College closed out its regular season with a 3-1 win over Dickinson to secure the No. 5 seed. The Shorewomen will compete in the Centennial tournament for the first time since 2017.

In what amounted to a play-in game, Haverford topped Swarthmore 1-0 in overtime to clinch the sixth and final playoff spot.

The Centennial tournament will feature a new look this fall. For the first time ever, six teams will compete in the postseason as the conference has expanded its number of playoff participants from five to six. Also, the higher seed will host each round of the tournament and there is now a day off between the semifinals and championship.

Tuesday's first round games will feature No. 5 Washington College at No. 4 Ursinus and No. 6 Haverford at No. 3 Bryn Mawr.

No. 1 Hopkins and No. 2 Franklin & Marshall will host Thursday's semifinals in Baltimore and Lancaster, respectively. The Blue Jays will take on the Ursinus/Washington College winner while F&M will face the winner of Bryn Mawr/Haverford.

Saturday's title game will be hosted by the highest remaining seed with the NCAA automatic qualifying bid on the line.
