Hazel Miller, Bryn Mawr, Offensive Player of the Year

Hazel Miller, Bryn Mawr, Offensive Player of the Year

LANCASTER, Pa. -- Bryn Mawr's Hazel Miller and Franklin & Marshall's Carolina Riley and Kat Thistlewaite collected the top awards to lead the 2022 All-Centennial Field Hockey team.

Miller, a sophomore forward for the Owls, was named Offensive Player of the Year. Miller is the first Bryn Mawr player to collect Player of the Year accolades in conference history. The Bryn Mawr coaching staff of head coach Victor Brady and assistants Lauren Fuchs, Christie Jones, and Ashley Ross were tabbed by their peers as Coaching Staff of the Year in the inaugural year of the award. The award was previously Coach of the Year, which Brady won twice before (2018 & 2019).

Riley was selected as Defensive Player of the Year for F&M. A junior, Riley is the second F&M player to be named Defensive Player of the Year, along with Melissa Gula (2019).

Thistlewaite grabbed Rookie of the Year accolades, becoming the third Diplomat to win the award since it was established in 2012. The freshman defender was also selected to the honorable mention team.

Nine players were repeat All-Centennial picks, including one four-time honoree and two who have earned all-star status three times. JHU's Abby Birk headlines the list as a four-time All-CC selection. Birk is now a three-time first team recipient and also nabbed second-team honors as a freshman in 2018. Bryn Mawr's Maggie Titus repeated as a first-teamer and was also a second-teamer in 2018. The other three-time award winner is F&M's Darby Klopp, who landed on the second team this fall after previously receiving first team accolades in 2021 and honorable mention in 2019.

Other repeat honorees include Washington College's Kat Esposito, Ursinus' Jordan Moore, F&M's Katie Roper, JHU's Anna Scott, Swarthmore's Martina Kampel, and Haverford's Olivia Ahart

Johns Hopkins has 49 first-team All-Centennial selections in the 30-year history of the conference. Gettysburg is next with 48, while Ursinus has 47 followed by Franklin & Marshall (45), Washington College (34), Swarthmore (22), Dickinson (20), Muhlenberg (18), McDaniel (17), Haverford (16) and Bryn Mawr (10).
