Muhlenberg at Johns Hopkins (Women's
Basketball)
It's become the best rivalry in the Conference and it is renewed
for the 38th time since 1994 as the Mules (9-3 CC, 14-3) visit the
Blue Jays (11-2, 16-2). Hopkins holds a 21-16 overall lead in the
series that has seen the teams meet eight times for the Centennial
title. The Jays won the previous meeting on Jan. 16 by a 76-67
count and would be in the driver's seat for the top seed with a
season sweep. Muhlenberg won the last contest in Baltimore,
capturing the CC crown with a 72-61 victory. The Mules'
Alexandra Chili (16.9 ppg) needs four points to
become the all-time leading scorer at the school - male or female.
The Jays' Chantal Mattiola leads JHU in scoring
(12.2) and the Conference in three-point shooting (45.6).
Haverford at Franklin & Marshall (Women's
Basketball)
The Fords (8-5, 13-5) have made program history twice this season
- winning for the first time vs. Gettysburg and the first time at
Muhlenberg. Now, Haverford goes for a school record 14th win as it
visits Lancaster to take on the Diplomats (9-4, 12-6). The teams
have split the last four meetings, but F&M's 65-59 win on Dec.
10 extended the Blue and White's series advantage to 24-4. The
Diplomats' Alexa Barbush has taken over the
Conference scoring lead (16.9), while the Fords' rookie standout
Elizabeth Lynch is averaging 13.2 points over her
last five games, including a pair of 16-point efforts in wins vs.
Hopkins and Muhlenberg.
Ursinus at Dickinson (Men's Basketball)
The Bears (6-5, 7-11) and the Red Devils (6-5, 9-9) meet in a game
that will have playoff implications by the end of the regular
season. Ursinus looks for a season sweep of Dickinson after a 74-54
win in Collegeville on Dec. 10 and its 17th win vs. the Devils in
the series' last 20 games. It could come down to a battle of the
big men - the Bears' Jon Ward (17.7 ppg) and the
Devils' Gerry Wixted (16.8)
Merchant Marine, Stevens, Muhlenberg at Ursinus
(Wrestling)
The four-time defending Conference champion Mariners (2-1 CC, 3-6)
travel to Collegeville to take on the Bears (2-0, 6-0) and the
Ducks (3-0, 9-4) - the last two remaining unbeatens in Centennial
competition this season. The key match for Ursinus against USMMA
could be at 197 where the Bears' Connor McNamara
(10-0) could put his unbeaten mark on the line against the
Mariners' Tyler Russell (16-6), who leads the
weight class in victories. The 157 bout vs. Stevens could prove
decisive between the Bears' Richard Jasinski
(12-2) and the Ducks' Jake Odell (13-7). Also
watch a pair of bouts at 149 as Muhlenberg's Kevin
Homan (21-6) tangles with Stevens' CJ
Caserta (25-8) and USMMA's Martin Bell
(15-10).
Dickinson at Franklin & Marshall
(Swimming)
The rivalry between the Red Devils and the Diplomats is renewed on
Saturday at McGinness Pool. Both schools' men's and women's teams
are undefeated in the Conference. One of the best races of the day
on the women's side pits F&M's Katherine Grant
(5:09.70) and Dickinson's Carson Gannon (5:11.27)
in the 500 free. On the men's side, keep an eye on the 100 back
between the Devils' Jason Adams (51.85) and the
Diplomats' David Fell (52.85).
