Muhlenberg at Haverford (Women's
Basketball)
A potential playoff preview takes place on the Main Line tonight
with a lot more at stake. The Fords (11-7 CC, 16-7) need a win in
their final two games to secure their first-ever Centennial
tournament berth, while a first-round home game or first-round bye
is not out of their reach. The Mules (13-5, 18-5) have a one-game
lead over Ursinus in their quest for a first-round bye. Haverford
won the year's first meeting, 58-55, in Allentown, snapping a
34-game losing streak to Muhlenberg. But the Fords have not posted
a home win over the Mules since 1991 (51-44). Muhlenberg's
Alexandra Chili (16.8) leads the Conference in
scoring, while Dominique Meeks (12.1) tops the
Haverford list.
Ursinus at Washington College (Women's
Basketball)
The Shorewomen (9-9, 14-9) are in a must-win situation against the
Bears (12-6, 13-10) - a team still fighting for a first-round bye
in next weekend's Centennial tourney. Ursinus defeated Washington,
61-43, back on Jan. 25 for its third win in the last four meetings
with its Eastern Shore rival. The game could be won on the boards,
as the Shorewomen's Latisha Pledger (10.7 rpg) and
the Bears' Lindsay Teuber (9.9 rpg) are 1-4 in the
Conference on the glass.
Dickinson at Gettysburg (Women's
Basketball)
The Bullets (9-9, 11-12) hope to keep their slim playoff hopes
alive with a win over the Red Devils (3-15, 3-20). Gettysburg needs
two wins, combined with two losses by Haverford, to force a tie for
the final playoff berth. The Orange and Blue defeated Dickinson,
54-42, back on Jan. 25 for its fourth win in the last five meetings
against its Route 34 rival. Alyssa Oursler (10.7)
leads the Bullets in scoring, while Bridget
Borgese tops the Red Devils at 10.5 ppg.
Franklin & Marshall at Johns Hopkins (Men's
Basketball)
The Blue Jays (10-6, 14-9) host the Diplomats (14-2, 21-2) looking
to secure a first-round bye for next week's Centennial tournament.
The task is defeating the 13th ranked team in the country for the
first time at Goldfarb Gym since 2008 (64-59). F&M won the
first meeting of the season, 65-40, back on Jan. 25. The Dips
cannot afford a loss in their quest for a high seed should they
qualify for the NCAA tournament. F&M's Jon
Salandra (64.6) and Hopkins' George
Bugarinovic (50.3) are two of just six CC players shooting
better than 50 percent from the field.
Ursinus at Washington College (Men's
Basketball)
Every game is a must-win for the Bears (7-9, 8-15) from this point
forward to keep their flickering playoff hopes alive. Standing in
Ursinus' way - the Shoremen (9-7, 13-10) - who are one win away
from locking up a tournament spot. Washington captured a 73-66
decision in Collegeville on Jan. 25 - its first win at Helfferich
Hall in 14 tries - and has won three straight at the Cain Center
from the Bears. Two of the CC's top five scorers will look to lead
their teams to victory - Washington's Kevin
Breslin (17.9, 2nd) and Ursinus' Jon Ward
(17.2, 5th).
Muhlenberg at Haverford (Men's Basketball)
See above, changing Haverford (7-9, 9-14) for Ursinus and
Muhlenberg (9-7, 15-8) for Washington College. The Mules won the
year's first meeting by a 79-69 count in Allentown and holds a
47-14 all-time lead in the series. 'Berg's Spencer
Liddic leads the Conference in scoring (18.3) and
rebounding (11.2), while shooting 54.6 percent from the field.
Haverford's Ian Goldberg shot 69.2 percent,
averaging 23.0 points in two games last week.
Dickinson at Gettysburg (Men's Basketball)
The Red Devils (11-5, 14-9) can secure a first-round bye for next
weekend's final four with a victory over the Bullets (7-9, 10-13),
who are in a must-win situation to remain in the playoff hunt.
Dickinson has won three of the last four meetings, including a
44-38 win in Carlisle on Jan. 25. Two of the top freshmen in the
Centennial take center stage in the Devils' Gerry
Wixted (16.6 ppg, 9.3 rpg) and the Bullets' Joe
Emerusabe (8.8 ppg).
