Johns Hopkins at Washington College (Baseball,
3:30)
The Blue Jays (20-9-2, 10-2 CC) and the Shoremen (23-6, 8-4)
square off in Chestertown in the opener of a two-game series
between the top teams in the Conference. Washington looks to senior
RHP Shane Mattingly (5-0, 2.57) help end a 14-game
losing streak in the series that dates to a 15-5 win in C-town in
2004. Hopkins turns to senior RHP Sam Eagleson -
the 2010 Centennial Pitcher of the Year.
Swarthmore at Washington College (Men's Tennis,
3:30)
The Garnet (11-9, 5-2) travel to the Eastern Shore to take on the
Shoremen (8-5, 6-1) in a potential Conference playoff preview.
Washington has secured a playoff berth and needs wins over Swat and
Hopkins to clinch the top seed. Swarthmore can wrap up a playoff
spot with a win against WAC or Haverford. Max
Bressman is 10-3 in dual matches at #2 and #3 singles for
the Garnet. Marc Cywinski has a six-match win
streak for the Shoremen at #4-5 singles.
Swarthmore at Washington College (Women's Lacrosse,
7:00)
Two of the three teams tied for third place in the Conference meet
in a match that will go a long way to determining playoff
positioning for next week's Centennial tournament. The Garnet
(10-4, 4-3) holds a 10-8 series advantage over the Shorewomen (8-5,
4-3) since 1994, including a 13-12 triumph last season at Clothier
Field. WAC has won five of the last six meetings at Kibler
Field/Kirby Stadium. Swarthmore's Annalise Penikis
leads the Centennial in scoring (53-35-88), while Washington's
Corinne Ziccardi has five game-winning goals among
her 35 tallies on the season.
