Johns Hopkins at Haverford (Field Hockey,
12:00)
The Blue Jays (6-6, 3-2 CC) travel to the Main Line to take on the
Fords (8-4, 3-2) in a game with major playoff implications. The
teams are in a four-way tie for second place in the Conference and
cannot afford a loss in the chase for a playoff berth and a
possible first-round bye. Hopkins is 27-5-1 all-time against
Haverford, including wins in the last two regular-season matchups -
both in Baltimore. The Fords won the last meeting in Haverford in
2009 by a 3-2 count. Alexa Lantiere leads the Jays
with six goals, while Bryn Bissey has seven for
Haverford.
Johns Hopkins at Haverford (Volleyball,
12:00)
There are three teams in the Centennial with one Conference loss
and two of them meet at Gooding Arena on Saturday with first place
on the line. The Blue Jays (20-3, 4-1) lead the all-time series,
18-10, including wins in the last two matchups. The Fords (14-5,
5-1) have not lost to JHU at home since 2005. A pair of outstanding
freshmen are on display in this match, as Hopkins' Jasmine
Warmington (.328) and Haverford's Meg
O'Day (.323) are 1-2 in the Conference in hitting
percentage.
Dickinson at Washington College (Volleyball,
1:00)
It could be an elimination match Saturday in Chestertown as
Dickinson (4-12, 3-3) comes calling to Washington College (8-11,
2-3). A fourth CC loss could be devastating to the loser in its
quest to make the Conference playoffs. The Shorewomen broke a
14-match losing streak against the Red Devils with a four-set
victory last season in Carlisle to close the all-time series
deficit to 23-12. Washington's last win against Dickinson at the
Cain Center was in 1998. Youth will be served in this match, as the
Shorewomen's Kristin Lee (3.32) and the Devils'
Emily Smith (3.15) are 2-5 in the Conference in
kills per set.
Gettysburg at Muhlenberg (Football, 1:00)
It's the 105th anniversary of the first gridiron meeting between
the Bullets (5-0, 4-0) and the Mules (3-2, 2-2) and one of the most
important in the 77-game history. Gettysburg is 5-0 for the first
time since 1987 and cannot be caught looking ahead to a possible
unbeaten showdown with Johns Hopkins next week. Muhlenberg needs a
victory to keep its Conference title hopes alive. The Mules have
won seven straight against the Bullets in Allentown since a 27-9
loss in 1996, but still trail in the all-time series, 43-32-1.
Gettysburg is averaging 43.2 points per game, while Muhlenberg is
surrendering just 11.4 per contest. Bullet RB Ted
Delia (85.4) and Mule RB Terrence
Dandridge (84.0) are 3-4 in the Conference in rushing
yards per game.
Muhlenberg at Franklin & Marshall (Men's Soccer,
3:00)
It will be a playoff atmosphere in Lancaster on Saturday when the
Mules (8-3, 3-2) visit the Diplomats (9-4, 2-3). Neither team can
afford another Conference loss in their quest to make the
Centennial playoffs. F&M leads the all-time series, 29-27-5,
but has not defeated 'Berg on its home field since 2007. Two of the
best players in the CC take center stage in Muhlenberg's
Cody Antonini (10-2-22) and the Diplomats'
Ben Beaver (10-2-22).
Haverford at Johns Hopkins (Women's Soccer,
7:00)
The winner will remain in the hunt for the top seed for next
month's Centennial playoffs ... the loser will most likely have to
settle for battling for a first-round bye. Those are the stakes
when the Fords (9-2-1, 3-1-1) travel to Charm City to take on the
Blue Jays (9-3-1, 4-1). It is the 25th meeting between the teams
since 1993 with JHU holding a 15-6-3 series advantage, including
six victories in the last seven contests. Haverford has lost eight
straight matches to Hopkins at Homewood Field since a 4-0 triumph
in 1995. The top two goal scorers in the Centennial will be
featured in JHU's Hannah Kronick (14) and
Haverford's Meg Boyer (7).
