Semifinals Set for Top Play of the Year Challenge

LANCASTER, Pa. -- The semifinals are now set for the 2019-20 Centennial Conference Top Play of the Year Challenge after voting in the quarterfinal round on the Centennial Twitter page - @CentennialConf - closed on Saturday.

The semifinals will take place from Monday, June 22 through Wednesday, June 24, with the top two plays set to face off between June 25 and June 28. The Top Play of the Year winner will be announced on June 29.

In the quarterfinal round, four plays advanced to the semifinals by receiving the highest number of votes in head-to-head matchups. Conner Delaney's game-winner in the CC Championship game for Johns Hopkins men's basketball became the first play to move on to the semis after earning 68% of the vote vs. McDaniel baseball's triple play.

Dash Dulgerinan's one handed-catch for Ursinus football received 70% of the vote in the second semifinal, defeating a goal from Nick Starr of McDaniel men's soccer. Dulgerinan's catch and Delaney's shot will square off in the semifinals.

On the right side of the bracket, Ben Minardi's behind-the-back goal for Ursinus men's lacrosse (57%) edged Abass Sallah's pass for Swarthmore men's basketball (43%) in the closest of the four quarterfinals.

The final play to earn a semifinal bid was Jevon Hamilton's touchdown for McDaniel football, which grabbed 79% of the vote to knock out Alejandro MacLean's game-winning goal for Johns Hopkins men's soccer in the CC championship. Minardi's goal and Hamilton's touchdown will meet in the other semifinal showdown.

This marks the first-ever CC Top Play of the Year Challenge. Plays were chosen from the weekly #CCTopPlays highlight segment produced throughout the year.
