Centennial Conference Athletes of the Week - May 3-9

LANCASTER, Pa. -- The Centennial Conference regular season is now complete for all spring sports as this marks the final weekly awards of spring 2021. Baseball and men's lacrosse both had several teams extend their seasons a week due to game postponements throughout the year. 

Congratulations to weekly honorees from last week's action - Chris Baker from Washington College baseball, Truman Devitt from Muhlenberg baseball, Luke Keating from Franklin & Marshall men's lacrosse, and Matt Burke from Muhlenberg men's lacrosse.

BASEBALL

Player of the Week
Chris Baker, Jr., OF, Washington College
Moorestown, N.J. | Moorestown
Baker went 5-for-8 with two home runs, three RBIs, three runs scored and two doubles in Saturday's Centennial Conference doubleheader against Muhlenberg. In game two's 5-4 win, he socked a pair of home runs, including the walk-off two-run blast to right in the ninth inning. He hit a solo homer in the bottom of the fifth to put WC ahead 3-1 and one inning earlier hit a double and scored the game's opening run. He reached base a fourth time on a walk. In game one, he went 2-for-4 with a double and a steal. Baker notched a .667 on-base percentage and a 1.625 slugging percentage with 13 total bases.
 
Pitcher of the Week 
Truman Devitt, Sr., RHP, Muhlenberg
Mamaroneck, N.Y. | Mamaroneck
Devitt combined with two relievers on a six-hit shutout in the final start of career as Muhlenberg defeated Washington College, 4-0. Devitt pitched 7.1 innings, allowing five hits and striking out six without walking a batter. One of the strikeouts was the 100th of his career.
 

MEN'S LACROSSE
 
Offensive Player of the Week
Luke Keating, Sr., A, Franklin & Marshall
Garden City, N.Y. | Garden City
Keating scored four goals and dished out seven assists for a career-high 11 points as F&M defeated Dickinson 20-9 to claim the outright Centennial Conference Championship. His seven assists were the fourth-most in a single game in program history while his 11 points were also the most since the 1995 season.
 
Defensive Player of the Week
Matt Burke, Sr., FO, Muhlenberg
Montville, N.J. | Montville Twp. 
Burke went 16-for-28 on faceoffs and picked up 12 ground balls to help the Mules to a 15-10 win at No. 10 Gettysburg - their first win ever at Gettysburg. He turned two of his faceoff wins into instant offense, recording a goal and an assist in the second half immediately after the Bullets scored two of their goals.
