Centennial Conference Athletes of the Week - Nov. 1-7

LANCASTER, Pa. -- Most fall conference championships are now complete and the winter season is underway for basketball, swimming, and wrestling. This will mark the first weekly honors for basketball and wrestling, while swimming has been underway for a few weeks. 

Weekly award recepients for Nov. 1-7 include Dan Gaines of Muhlenberg men's basketball, Kiersten Rose of Washington College women's basketball, Ben Freeman and Annabella Boardman of Swarthmore men's and women's swimming, respectively, and Luca Colestock of Muhlenberg wrestling

MEN'S BASKETBALL
  
Player of the Week
Dan Gaines, Sr., G, Muhlenberg
Colts Neck, N.J. | Colts Neck
Gaines scored 24 points on 10-of-14 shooting in the Mules' season-opening 94-71 win against Moravian. He also pulled down nine rebounds, dished out six assists and added two steals without committing a turnover in 29 minutes.
 

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL
 
Player of the Week
Kiersten Rose, Fr., F, Washington College
Upper Marlboro, Md. | Dr. Henry A. Wise Jr.
Rose netted a double-double in her collegiate debut with 11 points and 15 rebounds in the Shorewomen's 71-51 season-opening win over Notre Dame (Md.). She grabbed nine offensive rebounds and helped WC score 16 second-chance points in the win. Rose was the first WC player with at least 15 boards in a game since Emily Thiemann '19 in the 2018-19 season. 
 

MEN'S SWIMMING

Athlete of the Week
Ben Freeman, So., Swarthmore
Lakewood, Colo. | Colorado Academy
At the D3 Shootout, Freeman finished the 200 freestyle in a time of 1:40.01, which ranks him sixth in all of Division III, remains third on Swarthmore's all-time list, and ranks as the eighth-fastest mark in Centennial history. The time was also an NCAA B Cut.
 

WOMEN'S SWIMMING
 
Athlete of the Week
Annabella Boardman, Jr., Swarthmore
Montverde, Fla. | Montverde Academy
Boardman broke the Centennial Conference and school records in the 100 breaststroke at the D3 Shootout. The junior touched the wall in 1:03.30, which was also an NCAA B Cut and ranks third in Division III this season. She broke her own Swarthmore record (1:04.80) from 2020 and a four-year-old CC mark previously owned by Washington College's Jenni Clune (1:04.68). 
 

WRESTLING
 
Athlete of the Week
Luca Colestock, Sr., 197, Muhlenberg
Camp Hill, Pa. | Camp Hill 
Colestock opened the season with a bang, pinning four straight opponents to win the 197-pound title at the Alvernia Invitational. All four of the pins came in the first period, including one against a 2020 NCAA qualifier.
