Centennial Conference Athletes of the Week - Oct. 24-30

LANCASTER, Pa. -- This week marks the final Centennial Conference weekly awards for field hockey, men's soccer, women's soccer and volleyball as regular season play has now concluded. The Centennial postseason kicks off this week with four champions set to be crowned this weekend. 

Abby Birk of Johns Hopkins field hockey, Sam Farrell of Franklin & Marshall men's soccer, and Ellie Streeper of Swarthmore volleyball are repeat winners to headline this week's selections. Other award recipients include Alexis Loder of Johns Hopkins field hockey, Shay Adamson of F&M men's soccer, Katie Sullivan of Johns Hopkins women's soccer, Kaela Frenchman of Ursinus women's soccer, Sydney Levins of F&M volleyball, Mia Yancey of Gettysburg women's swimming, and Cami Wilson of Swarthmore men's swimming.

FIELD HOCKEY
 
Offensive Player of the Week
Abby Birk, Gr., M, Johns Hopkins
Louisville, Ky. | Sacred Heart
Birk led Johns Hopkins to a pair of shutout wins as the Blue Jays secured the No. 1 seed in the Centennial Conference Tournament. On Wednesday against Washington College, she scored the game-winning goal just 1:25 into the game. That win secured the top seed in the tournament for the Blue Jays. Birk then scored the game's only goal at Bryn Mawr as JHU completed its third straight undefeated conference slate.
 
Defensive Player of the Week
Alexis Loder, Jr., GK, Johns Hopkins
North East, Md. | John Carroll
Loder helped Johns Hopkins to a pair of shutout wins in the final week of the regular season. She played three quarters of Hopkins' 5-0 win over Washington College and made one save while also snuffing out several passes by the high-scoring Shorewomen. On Saturday, she made one save in 30 minutes of Hopkins' 1-0 win at Bryn Mawr, one of the highest-scoring teams in the league.

MEN'S SOCCER
 
Offensive Player of the Week
Shay Adamson, Sr., M, Franklin & Marshall
Allen, Texas | Einstein School
Adamson scored the game-winning goal during a 1-0 victory against No. 15 Johns Hopkins on Saturday, clinching first place in the Centennial Conference regular season standings and hosting rights throughout the CC tournament for the Diplomats. 
 
Defensive Player of the Week
Sam Farrell, Sr., GK, Franklin & Marshall
Severna Park, Md. | Severna Park
Farrell posted a shutout with six saves in a 1-0 victory over Johns Hopkins to secure first place in regular season standings and hosting rights throughout the conference tournament to the Diplomats. Farrell has six shutouts in 15 starts this season and is allowing just 0.73 goals per game.

WOMEN'S SOCCER

Offensive Player of the Week
Katie Sullivan, So., F, Johns Hopkins
Yardley, Pa. | Villa Joseph Marie
Sullivan helped the Blue Jays cap a perfect regular season in CC play with three goals and one assist in a 2-0 week. She had one assist in a 4-0 win at Dickinson and then scored three goals in a 6-3 win over F&M in the regular-season-finale. The hat trick was the first of her career.
 
Defensive Player of the Week
Kaela Frenchman, Jr., GK, Ursinus
Long Valley, N.J. | West Morris Central 
Frenchman allowed just one goal over two games as the Bears closed out the year with wins over Muhlenberg and McDaniel. She tallied eight saves in the Bears 4-1 victory over Muhlenberg on Wednesday and followed up with nine saves in a shutout of McDaniel on Saturday. She collected 17 saves over the two games for a save percentage of .944. Saturday's victory tied the school record for shutouts in a season (7) while breaking the Ursinus single-season record in save percentage (.879) and goals allowed average (0.76).

VOLLEYBALL

Offensive Player of the Week
Sydney Levins, Jr., OH/RS, Franklin & Marshall
Waxhaw, N.C. | Cuthbertson
Levins hit .438 with 4.17 kills per set to lead Franklin & Marshall to a pair of Centennial Conference sweeps against Muhlenberg and McDaniel. She finished with 25 kills for the week, averaging 4.8 points per set. Her week was headlined by 14 kills and a .481 hitting percentage against Muhlenberg. Seven of the team's eight CC victories throughout the regular season were 3-0 sweeps.
 
Defensive Player of the Week
Ellie Streeper, Fr., DS, Swarthmore
Needham, Mass. | Needham
Streeper had 24 digs in a three-set sweep over Haverford. The first-year averaged 7.25 digs per set in four total matches as the Garnet defeated Bryn Mawr and Haverford last week. The Garnet clinched the second seed in the Centennial Tournament and ended the regular season on a seven-game win streak.

MEN'S SWIMMING

Athlete of the Week
Cami Wilson, Fr., Swarthmore
Birmingham, Mich. | International Academy
Wilson finished first overall in all three events in which he competed in a 193-67 dual victory over Washington College. Wilson outswam all opponents in the 50 freestyle (21.29) and went on to win the 100 butterfly (50.34). The freshman was also a member of the first place 200 freestyle relay. All three of Wilson's times rank among the top-20 nationally so far this season. 

WOMEN'S SWIMMING
 
Athlete of the Week
Mia Yancey, So., Gettysburg
Wallingford, Pa. | Strath Haven
Yancey led the Bullets to a pair of dual wins, notching three wins in a victory at Franklin & Marshall on Friday before scoring in two events against Southern Virginia on Saturday. On Friday, she took first as part of the 400 medley relay (4:04.74) as well as individually in the 200 freestyle (1:58.91) and 100 freestyle (54.87). She was also part of the 200 free relay that placed second (1:41.09). A day later, she finished second in the 100 back (1:01.62) and fourth in the 1000 free (11:27.71). The 400 medley relay time currently ranks eighth in Division III.
