D3hoops.com All-Region 5 Team | NABC All-District 5 Team

Johns Hopkins' Conner Delaney was tabbed Regional Player of the Year by both D3hoops.com and the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) to headline a group of four Centennial Conference players that earned all-region recognition by the two organizations. Delaney is a repeat winner of both Player of the Year awards.

In addition to Delaney securing Player of the Year and first team honors on both teams, Ursinus' Ryan Hughes was named to the D3hoops.com second team and NABC first team, Swarthmore's Vinny DeAngelo earned first team NABC accolades, and JHU's Tom Quarry was a second team D3hoops.com pick.

The 2022 Centennial Conference Player of the Year, Delaney led the Centennial in points (495), assists (118), assist-to-turnover ratio (2.5) and three-pointers (74). He also ranked second in free throw attempts (148), free throws made (109) and field goals made (156). Nationally, he ranks 31st in assist-to-turnover ratio and 42nd in three-pointers. Delaney scored 20 or more points 20 times, including three games of 30 or more. He is the fourth player in program history to earn all-region honors twice, and the first to garner first team accolades twice.

Quarry earns all-region honors for the first time in his career. A First Team All-Centennial Conference selection, he is one of the top shooters in the nation. He led the conference and ranks 19th in the nation shooting 42.9 percent from three-point. Quarry also ranked second in the conference three-pointers (73) and was eighth in scoring (13.3). He made 83.0 percent of his free throws, which would rank second in the Centennial if he qualified for the rankings. He ranks 11th in school history with 139 career three-pointers and is tied for ninth in career three-point percentage (39.7).

DeAngelo, a sophomore guard and the 2019-20 D3Hoops.com National Rookie of the Year, was named to the District 5 NABC All-District First Team. DeAngelo, a 2019-20 All-CC Honorable Mention honoree, was named to the All-Centennial First Team. In 23 games played the guard averaged 16.4 points a game, while adding 68 assists and 20 steals. The sophomore guard also earned CoSIDA Academic All-District honors. DeAngelo finished the campaign ranked third in the Centennial Conference in scoring.

Hughes continued to add to his storied career by also earning All-Centennial Conference First Team Honors this season as well. Hughes powered the second-highest team scoring offense in the Centennial Conference by averaging 18.9 points, which was good for second highest in the Conference. Along with his scoring, Hughes ranked fifth in the Centennial with a career-best 6.5 rebounds per game and recorded five double-doubles in the process. The Middletown, Pa. native was among the most consistent performers in 2021-22 as he scored double-figures for all but one game this season and led the team with a 49.9 field goal percentage. Hughes scored over 20 points on 11 separate occasions and registered a career-high 35 points against Gettysburg on February 5th. He also became the 30th player in Ursinus men's basketball history to cross the 1,000-point plateau for his career.

This is the first time in his career that Hughes has earned postseason accolades from the NABC and D3hoops.com. Hughes is the first Bear to be named to the NABC All-District team since Remy Cousart in 2010. Cousart was also the last Bear to earn a spot on the D3hoops.com All-Region teams as well in that same season.
