Swarthmore's Vinny DeAngelo and Landry Kosmalski and Johns Hopkins' Josh Loeffler received major regional awards while six Centennial Conference men's basketball players were honored as all-region performers by D3hoops.com and the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC).

DeAngelo and Kosmalski received top honors from D3hoops, securing Player of the Year and Coach of the Year accolades, respectively. Loeffler was named the NABC All-District Coach of the Year.

On the D3hoops All-Region 5 Team, DeAngelo led a group of six Centennial honorees as the Regional Player of the Year and a first team selection. Muhlenberg's Giovanni Rubino and JHU's Tom Quarry collected second team accolades, while Muhlenberg's Dan Gaines, Ursinus' Ryan Hughes and Swarthmore's Michael Caprise were named to the third team. The Centennial took home six of the 15 all-region spots.

On the NABC All-District 5 Team, DeAngelo and Quarry were first team picks while Rubino was named to the second team.

DeAngelo has led the Garnet with 17.4 points per game while shooting .500 from the floor and .457 from three. No pushover defensively either, DeAngelo has pulled down 4.2 rebounds per game, snagged 35 steals and blocked 10 shots on the season. The guard also scored his 1,000th career point in a game against Muhlenberg this year, becoming just the 27th player in Swarthmore program history to achieve that mark. DeAngelo has previously been named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District team and the All-Centennial Conference First Team, while also earning the titles of  Centennial Conference Tournament MVP and Centennial Conference Player of the Year.

Caprise has had an excellent 2022-23 campaign for the Garnet, locking down the paint on defense while also proving a solid option offensively. The 6'6 forward leads the team in blocks (34) and rebounds per game (8.1), while also averaging double digit points at 10.3 per contest. For his efforts, Caprise has racked up accolades of his own, slashing his way onto the All-Centennial Second Team.

Guiding his team to their sixth NCAA tournament in his tenure, Kosmalski and the Garnet have fought their way to a 28-3 record, not only winning the Centennial Conference Championship following a miraculous comeback over rival Johns Hopkins University, but also advancing to the Final Four of the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament.

Loeffler led Johns Hopkins to a 25-5 record and the program's first trip to the NCAA Sweet 16 since 2015. The 25 wins tie the program record and mark the fourth 20-win season in his five-year tenure. Hopkins went 16-2 in the Centennial Conference and earned the number one seed in the conference tournament. Loeffler and assistants Ricky Hernandez and Conor Dow were named Centennial Conference Coaching Staff of the Year. Loeffler also earned Region Coach of the Year honors in 2018.

Quarry earns All-Region 5 honors from the NABC for the first time in his career. This is his second appearance on the D3hoops.com All-Region team after earning second team accolades a year ago. A three-time All-Centennial Conference selection, he finished his career ranked 13th in program history with 1,147 career points. One of the top three-pointer shooters to wear the Hopkins Blue & Black, Quarry ranks third in three-point attempts (524) and fourth in three-pointers (198). This season, he ranked sixth in the Centennial Conference in scoring (14.6), fourth in free throw percentage (.839), sixth in free throws (73) and fifth in three-pointers (55).

Rubino had a breakout season for Muhlenberg too earn a spot on the All-Centennial Conference first team. After averaging 9.0 points per game in his first collegiate season, he more than doubled his average to a CC-leading 18.9 points per game. Rubino scored in double figures in all but two games and had two 30-point efforts, including 35 in the Mules' CC first-round playoff win against Ursinus. Rubino set a school record and ranks 19th in Division III with his .880 free-throw percentage. He also is fifth in the CC in field-goal percentage with a mark of .554, which ranks eighth in Division III among players who have attempted at least 350 shots. Rubino's season total of 510 points is third-best in program history, and his 194 field goals tied for the most by a Muhlenberg player in 54 years.

Gaines made the all-region team for the second team after earning second-team honors in 2020. The second Mule to make the All-CC team four times, he recently was selected to play in the Division III All-Star Game. Gaines ranks fifth in the CC in points per game (16.2) and sixth in assists (81). He scored at least 20 points in a game 11 times during the season, including a 35-point effort at Franklin & Marshall. He finished his career in the top 10 on Muhlenberg's all-time lists in points (ninth with 1,459), assists (third with 362), three-pointers (fifth with 146) and steals (seventh with 123).

Hughes earned D3hoops.com All-Region accolades for the second straight season after securing second team honors in 2022. Hughes built on his postseason accolades after earning All-Centennial Conference honors for the second-straight season, and third All-Centennial selection overall. Hughes put a bow on a tremendous career at Ursinus by being among the league leaders again in scoring, ranking second in the Centennial with 17.7 points per game. He ranked sixth in the Centennial with a career-best 3.1 assists and tied for second with 1.4 steals per game. Hughes' showed his consistency by scoring in double-figures for all but one game this season, led the team with an even 50% field goal percentage, and scored over 20 points on 10 separate occasions. He will finish with 1,648 career points which is the fourth-most in Ursinus Men's Basketball program history.
