Maher had a great start to the season, netting six goals in the season opener against St. Mary's, including a hat-trick in the first quarter. He controlled a game-high five ground balls on the day and caused a pair of turnovers in the win.

In his homecoming game, Flood made 14 saves and allowed just four goals in the Shoremen's season-opening 13-4 win over Birmingham-Southern in Atlanta on Saturday. He made seven saves in each half and allowed just one goal in the second half as Washington outscored Birmingham-Southern 10-1. With the score 6-4, Flood made a save with 22 seconds left in the third quarter and his save led to the ensuing transition opportunity that the Shoremen scored on with six seconds to make it 7-4 going into the fourth. He also picked up a pair of ground balls.
