Sweet 16 Previews

Sweet 16 Previews

For the third straight season, the Centennial Conference has two representatives in the NCAA Division III men's soccer championship Sweet 16.  Muhlenberg plays host to a sectional, while Johns Hopkins is on the road to Ohio with the opportunity to become the first Conference team in the Final Four since 1995.

Muhlenberg is hosting a game this far into the NCAA Tournament for only the second time in school history. In fact, the Mules have only advanced this far in the tournament three times before.  'Berg  kicks off the weekend against a Merchant Marine squad that is making its first appearance in the “Sweet 16” since 2002. The Mariners (12-2-5) beat Kean, 2-0, and Brockport State, 3-2 in overtime, to advance to face the Mules.

Johns Hopkins is set to travel to second-ranked Ohio Wesleyan this weekend for the NCAA Sectionals. The Battling Bishops will host the four-team sectional that also features top-ranked Trinity (TX) and Lynchburg.

Hopkins (15-3-4) will face host Ohio Wesleyan (18-1-2) in the second match Saturday, November 20 at 7:30 pm at Roy Rike Field in Delaware, OH. Saturday's first game will feature Trinity (TX) (19-2-1) against Lynchburg (17-4-1) at 5:00 pm. The winners will meet at 6:00 pm on Sunday, November 21 with a berth in the NCAA Final Four on the line.
