Swarthmore's Peter Maxted Named to NSCAA All-America Second Team

Complete NSCAA Division III All-America Team

Peter Maxted '14 of the Swarthmore College men's soccer team has been named to the 2012 NSCAA/Continental Tire NCAA Division III Men's All-America Second Team, the organization announced on Tuesday.

An economics major and math/computer science minor from Port Washington, N.Y., Maxted  is the 92nd All-American in the history of the men's soccer program. His honor also marks that third consecutive season that the men's soccer team has produced at least one All-America selection.

A goalkeeper in his first full season as a starter, Maxted won the starting job early in the season and never looked back, recording eight shutouts and allowing just 10 goals all season for an .861 save percentage and a 0.54 goals-against average. Maxted's goals-against average ranks fourth in program history for a single-season. Thanks to his stellar performance on the field and in the classroom, Maxted was named to the 2012 Capital One Academic All-America Division III Men's Soccer First Team and the All-Centennial Conference First Team.

With Maxted between the pipes, the Garnet finished the season 16-3-2, reaching the NCAA Sweet 16 round for the third time in five seasons.

Maxted is the only Centennial Conference player to make the All-America team.
